    Exotic Swedish that is...

When I read exotic, I think of a beach in a warm climate, not the Burbs of Malmö and it’s Kebabs and Shawarma

Most Americans I’ve met think I’m plenty exotic. That might be because I travel to the other side if the world to drink beer. So exotic might mean moron.

Haha fine retort but you know if I could afford to travel the world for fine beers I would.

For now I drive on the other side of my town for Belgians classics. Occasionally a Murican and the lazy ass option to buy online.

Seriously: I’ll be in Bruges in early April for a weekend and intend to visit the city and drink a bit too. Let me know along with @Beer-Panda

    Alvarado Street Brewery — Palio

So Alvarado St. labeled this beer as an Italian Pilsner. I admit to not be very knowledgeable on my pilsners (though I do enjoy them very much), but wtf is an Italian pilsner? I know German and Chech variants, and I understand the modern American usually over-hopped varieties. But what's an Italian pilsner?

Look: Light yellow color, same as what you get on your normal Chech pilsners. Less head formation than I expected (though the picture shows even less, I messed up the pour). Standard head retention and lacing for the pilsner/lager style.
Smell: I'm not great at describing lager aromas, but what I'm getting here smells like a Helles lager than a pilsner.
Taste: Noble hops and biscuity malt. But then again, if I haven't read word "pilsner" on the label, I would guess that this was a Helles. A bit of a lemony thing in the background. Sorta watery too.
Feel: Less than standard carbonation, light body.
Overall: This is a very well-made beer (as are all Alvarado lager-types). I'm not sure, though, what an Italian-style pilsner is, because to me, this taste more like a quality lager. I guess, I really am enjoying this, and that is the most important thing.

    Cheers!

This one would make a good marinade for some BBQ chicken...big onion, big garlic, orange juice, pineapple.
