After a 2.5 hour de-icing delay in Detroit, I finally arrived in Dallas about the same time that my original connecting flight is landing in New Orleans. Now I'm stuck in DFW for a couple hours. At least there's a decent beer bar near my gate.

Kinda, sorta. I'm going to Alexandria, VA for my second of 6 trips this year. It'll definitely be warmer (lows in the 20's, which is decent for a Michigander) and a lot less snow, if any.

 

It might be your fathers beer but it’s far from yellow fizzy water. The malt backbone really does stand out, it’s creamy vs over carbonated,and they do call in a Munich style lager, and I believe it is that. It may be an aal but it’s in the top tier of its bracket, prefer the old style bottle they fit the hand perfectly.

The nose on this one's insane



Pretty sure this is the 2nd release of this IPA. Just as impressive as the 1st time round.

Hit my first estate sale in quite awhile today and it took me to the other side of the township where one of my favorite beer stops is located . Haven’t been there for many many months .
Found they had a new cooler door with discounted beers unheard of prior !! YOWZA !!

Been wanting to try these since I first saw them distributed here a few months back .


Bells does a nice job on so many of their releases .
This American Barley Wine is exactly as described on the back label . Caramel sweet base upfront with a sharp hop bitterness on the backend . Does well with aging .
I’ll test that with a few ..
Beautiful rich caramel color
Decent head though I slow poured into a chilled glass
Smell is wonderful
Definitely a bitter bite
Overall I’m enjoying it very much .
It’s not my DFH Olde School, but it willl do for now.
