Poured into a 16 oz Hop Slam Snulip glass not sure when it was canned.
Pours a very hazy light yellow with a solid finger plus sticky white head that leaves thick patches of lace, with excellent retention. 4.5

Smell papaya, apricot, pine resin, and grapefruit rind. 4.25

Taste follows really tropical papaya, apricot upfront and some piney grapefruit bitterness in the long lingering finish. 4.25

Mouthfeel is “Yogi” bigger than your average beer, not dry but definetly a tad sticky from the Triple Dry hopping, light carbonation and soft on the tongue, and at 8% ABV extremely drinkable. 4.5

Overall this stuff is excellent, really haven’t heard much about this brewery, but will be taking notice for now on. 4.25[IMG]

first time having a blonde stout i believe? took a moment for this to have any aroma or flavor at all but that coffee is starting to sing nicely now. 2nd shifts big fluffy boy Sunny recently passed so this is in his honor, glad I got to meet that cute lil guy back on my first visit.

I know you didn't, but I think his admission could be helpful to a lot of people, including me. Many of us that suffer with mental illness, suffer in silence. I also know what it's like to straddle the line of craft enthusiast/borderline alcoholic. I'm speaking for me right now, not him. I can't count the number of mornings that I wake up with guilt because I drank again. The days I don't drink feel like major accomplishments. Although I have unveiled the mask on occasion, it's easy to hide behind my online persona. I've met a few people from BA, but they got some of the best acting I've done in my career, at least from the standpoint of being extremely reserved. The real me is f*cking nuts (in a good way), and I worry about what people think. I can share these things with you guys, just as @superspak did, without fear of being judged. And, if I am judged, so be it.

Anyhow, I want to salute @superspak for having the courage to discuss issues that most of us readily avoid. I do appreciate your contributions, as well as your enthusiasm & knowledge. However, just once I would love to hear you say: "This beer is sh*t, as always." Haha! Not really, though. I know that you appreciate & respect beer, across the board. Cheers to you, and every other advocate.

Hey thanks. I appreciate the kind words. And, obviously, you have a LARRRRRGE presence on this site as always, your enthusiasm is always awesome to see.

I did say I didn’t like that 5-year old bottle of Brown Shugga a few days ago.

Honestly, I have a lot of shit bouncing around in my head but I’m pretty mentally stable. Do I fit the words functioning alcoholic to a tee, though? I do, I can admit that at least. I hate to say it, but my family and job(s) are the only things that keep me from being worse.

Okay. Haha, enough of the serious shit.

Cheers to you sir and @superspak. I’m taking February off to try to see what I really feel like when the effects of my craft beer ‘hobby’ leave my body for a prolonged period of time.

Wake up a lot of mornings thinking I got hit by a small electric car (the truck is reserved for hard alcohol which I barely touch these days). Getting up with the boy for school at 7 with five hours of intoxicated sleep is not refreshing. Back to bed at 8 after he’s on the bus then sleep a few more but then have little time to get anything done before back to work at 4pm. I work nights so come home to a sleeping wife and son and Netflix and Xbox go pretty well with a beer in hand. By the time I get home the pain of the morning is long forgotten and the beer fridge is full.

After eating well and not drinking I am down about 6 pounds in just three days. Not sure but feel like that all might be whatever my body does to combat the steady flow of toxins. Needless to say I’d consider myself a functioning alcoholic. I don’t drink in the day or before or during work. The only debt we have is a house payment and we can afford more than the staples of a modern American life. But when I bring this up to friends or coworkers they all say “No you’re not” which leads me to self internalize that I’m fine and it might be more dangerous not showing any signs I need any type of intervention.

It’s more a mental addiction at 42 years of age I believe for me. Haven’t had a physical craving these past few days and sleeping much better through the night. Recently been put on lisinopril for high blood pressure so also want to see come March what it is when I’m not drinking. Moderation is key and I don’t feel like a few beers a few nights a week is a problem but with 10+% beasts almost daily I know it’s not good for me and am trying to curb my affliction.

Your words and Spak’s made me feel like sharing some real insight as well to our lives here aside from beatiful pictures, classy beverages and shining reviews. We’re all functioning adults but sometimes it feels good to see that we are human as well and have problems. Cheers to all you beautiful BA bastards.

Just finished last night’s thread...I totally respect the candor, and privacy, of our BA brothers and sisters. Opening up ain’t easy, but I’d like to think that a welcoming forum exists amongst us here...we all enjoy beer, and my observation has been that we enjoy each other’s posts/company...I know I do...

If OB/CC ever goes public...I’m buying a 1000 shares, based on your consumption of Jai Alai, the second they go on sale. I can’t lose!
