Wait, what is sold out? I'm not seeing anything as sold out (except for the can that doesn't release in the first place for two weeks?

I'm not too worked up about Apfelsap, because I was able to buy it, and would have bought M&FT instead anyways. The lying about Spontanaheim is complete horseshit though, and absolutely inexcusable. Would one of the Bruery folks who follow this forum please explain this to us? Is it releasing this year, as promised in the list of upcoming beers, which was posted AFTER Rhone Blanc released last year? Or are the two most interesting and experimental beers that were supposed to be included this year just being replaced by other beers, which are no different than what other craft breweries are doing?

I emailed about the thresholds thing as well. They're usually good about replying to emails. I'm very curious to see the response.

Interestingly, since I posted the screenshot, 32 oz fills of Apfelsap are already gone, but tasters and 5 oz pours are still there.

@InfiniteJester23, I realize we could just buy Apfelsap, but this is too much for me, particularly with Apfelsap having been available in 32 oz fills. I'm not giving them any money this month. If we don't get a better explanation on all of this, then I feel like I might actually be done buying anything from them entirely. At this point, I'm not that unhappy to just pick up my included bottles at some point, whatever they end up being, and then just be done with this disaster.

Yes, I believe they have only been Hoarders so far. I guess I'm not positive if 2018 Reserve might have been available for RS?

    Quantities from my notes:
2015 BT Reserve: 2 Included bottles, 6 additional available for purchase
2018 BT Reserve: 2 included bottles, 1 additional available for purchase
2018 BT Grand Reserve: 2x 375ml bottles in Hoarders Box #3. Could have purchased additional boxes, but not just these bottles.

Might be that they never allowed 32oz growler fills, and that they corrected it.

I say that, since last year when Black Tuesday Reserve was on draft, it showed growler fills. I asked them, and they said it was definitely a mistake. They were not filling growlers, and just updated it.

Glad to see that I’m not the only one that isn’t happy with the way things are going this year lol especially with communication. It’s been AWFUL since Joel left. RIP

So, went to SMM this afternoon. I had:

Atta Boysenberry- 1:00 free pour - I’d buy this if they made it available to us plebes in RS.

Melange No. 3 (2013) My favorite melange and the older the better.

Rice And Beans - really enjoyed it. Not a coffee guy and not a lactose guy, but I felt like I owed it to myself to at least try the allocations. I enjoyed it but will not be buying.

Birdie Birdie - light, refreshing and to me lemony af. Pass on buying.

Hold The Spoon - loved this. All the adjuncts were subtle and barely noticeable to my humble palate. Besides the Melange No. 3, this was the beer of the day for me.

Oude Tart W/Cherries - I love Oude Tart - enough said.

Apfelsap - it was good. I didn’t get any apple taste at all. I fell for the scarce hype and bought a bottle this morning. I’m glad I did but it would have been okay if I wasn’t able to.

My biggest gripe has been the whole irregularities with what’s on tap and where... well, that and doubling the price of some tasters in the TR... but am I the only one slightly miffed that PS got a whole bottle of Wee Heavy Cononuts and RS/HS barely got any cans?

I'm not sure where on your HS signup it said one of the perks was blocking people RS out from beers THEY were promised, but I think you have really twisted the intention of the societies.

What's the point of us paying for RS, if as you are hoping, HS gets first right of refusal on beers RS was promised? You already get a bunch of beers we have no access to (as you should: being loyal and a big spender), but now you're complaining that you didn't access to buy out all of this beer, before any lowly RS people got a chance? Rlly dude?

You sound like a huge baby, and that's really saying a lot considering this thread. The solution Bruery came up with is still going to get bottles into the hands of people in either society, who want the bottles. In fact, by making it a 'buy' item, it avoids anyone who doesn't care about this beer, being forced to take a bottle that someone else would really like to have. It's actually a brilliant solution. If you want the beer, buy it, if you don't - good the people who want it can get a better chance rather than HS taking 2pp that they might not have even wanted.

Also there have already been tons of people complaining about the allocations not being on tap, but congratulations, you're the first one complaining that something on allocation WAS on tap. You're a trailblazer! :beers:

Yes, definitely my biggest issue - of whats on tap .

In the end, I was able to buy a 3rd can . Sufficient for me, so I'm not bothered.

Wee Heavy Coconuts did absolutely nothing for me, and I feel as though I had a guardian angel looking over me - that stopped me from buy more. It wasn't bad, but not at that price point., I wasn't feeling it at all.

A crowler of wee heavy coconuts last year was cheaper than a single 16 oz can. I know crowler fills are usually cheaper than the 750mL, but surprised the price for the 16oz van was so much compared to last year’s fills.

Atta Boysenberry was released to RS last December in 16oz cans and 750ml bottles.

How long do Bruery growler fills usually last? The price compared to buying the same amount bottled is a lot more affordable, I'm wondering if it's mostly due to longevity.

I think you're misinterpreting what I wrote. I don't think my society's point is to block out yours, but if they have a $300 membership and a $700 membership, honoring the $700 memnlbership comes first. If they have enough of the beer to keg it, they have enough to bottle it up for HS. Bottom line.

I disagree that replacing with another beer is a great solution. Mash and French Toast is just another repeat. I don't want repeats. I want them to stop making the same damn beers over and over and over and throwing in one new adjunct and acting like it's suddenly the beer to end all beers.

I'm annoyed that they sold me a beer, claim they don't have enough to honor that sale (would be fine if actually true), then sell the beer as bottles and on tap for extra money. I'm annoyed that they're lying about the most exciting Terreux release from last year, which they replaced with an overpriced, mediocre bottle. I'm annoyed that they made up something about extra included bottles last year and then just took people's money without honoring that claim. Mostly, I'm annoyed that they no longer seem to carw about making new, innovative beers but just keep rehashing the same stuff.

I'd offer to buy you a beer at anniversary fest if I've offended you, but I doubt I'll go this year. Haha.

Really enjoyed SMM. The talks about esters and especially about how current allocations were brewed were really cool. Makes the day much cooler to have info sessions

    In any case:
Apfelsap is on the money. Contrary to previous poster, I’d say it’s huge apple. Sweet and rich. Barrel notes underneath. Easy max. Would have tried for the 32 oz if I’d brought my growler, but I do think that was a mistake. That option was there for white mocha too but disappeared on the reprint

Birdie birdie— hits all of the notes in the description. Really nothing to add. A saison with citrus and Pilsner notes.

Hold the spoon— also hits all of the tasting notes. But it is light, relatively speaking from a bruery standpoint. I would like to see this treatment on white chocolate. I still maxed though. Great introduction to pastry stout for the regular beer drinker.

White mocha seemed a little coffee forward, but I will grab some cans because it’s pretty good even if I’d like a little more sweetness underneath.

Had mash and morning grind on and I ordered a crowler which kicked halfway through. So I topped it off with Westwood. That will be an interesting mix in a couple weeks when I open it. Staff were super helpful and friendly, and even gave me a free pour of white mocha when my crowler could not be completed.

If that was the case I would have appreciated the honesty about losing some barrels due to infection than something about messing up the yield.

You and I have different ideas of what a session is, but I'm guessing your liver isn't conditioned to drinking away the pain of the past 3-4 years of Nebraska football.

Not as many as I would have liked on the last go.

Mash & Grind was legit. It made Coffee is Life taste like a total letdown.

Just to toss my two cents in as a greedy Hoarder's bastard I feel like the optimal solution to any issues in the future is to offer it up to HS before taking care of the serfs. jk.
