It's a mystery to me that a "whiskey aged vanilla milkshake with honey" sounds good to anyone. Falls into the same category as Grimm hyping "gummy bear juice." Who are these children they're catering towards? Shoot me.

Even Suarez have that sort of stuff going on. Seen “emergen-c” and “starburst” in some recent posts. Wtf

Immersion and advertising…laying out the progression/regression: Fluctuation (e.g. #68, #42…) is a welcomed read that inevitably yields a sound output (i.e. left out Twizzler)

Line was at the corner of Garnet when they opened, but seems to be moving fast.

Citra+Triumph is exceptional. Getting a pretty distinct bubblegum flavor from it. As much as I enjoyed Citra+Strata, this is superior. Probably my favorite dual hop since Cashmere+Galaxy.

Seconding the Citra+Triumph praise. And for those that don't know they were scooping VIP Snowbirds ice cream earlier in the taproom and THAT was better than the beer alone IMO. So good.

Based off of my previous memories? Considerably better. Doesn't have any of the breadiness/minerality I used to come to expect from sub-7% Other Half IPAs. Glad I bought the 4-pack, and would've bought another in lieu of a second Double Cream Get the Honey if I was able to do it over again.

    Oh well...hindsight is 20/20.

Thoughts on the oat wine? I had a small pour of it and thought it was phenomenal, had to make a second stop at the warehouse on my way back

If you look closely in this morning's IG post you'll see that they snuck in a preview of an upcoming Horus x Three Chiefs collab stout in the Cheddar photo. Gonna have walnuts and honey.

Big thanks to OH for hosting and treating us to a round of beers! They've been super hospitable the few times we've gone out

I was not a fan. Tasted like sour honey to me.

Slice the Pies is probably the closest Other Half has come so far when it comes to emulating a Hudson Valley sour IPA. Mouthfeel is a lot fuller than their previous attempts.

Also surprised by how much this tastes like pie crust.

When I had Minotaurs fresh I described it as cream soda. I was expecting the same kind of sweetness in the barrel aged version but found it surprisingly restrained, I assume the earthy/woody notes from the oak helped balance it out from its prior incarnation. That said, I did not buy a bottle. It reminded me of Curmudgeon's Better Half, or many other old ales and barleywines that are always available and more affordable.

Still, I really think it represents a definite step forward in OH's barrel aging program, insofar as the beer coming out the other end was absolutely better than before it had gone in. I've had many beers that are better fresh than barrel aged, and many barrel aged beers that were just terrible.

If I were writing their corporate history twenty years from now, this might be one of those moments to dwell on, depending on where it goes from here.
