BIF beer from @Coronaeus. This was amazing. Fantastic head retention/lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, peppercorn, clove, anise, nutmeg, ginger, juniper, spruce, toffee, vanilla, rum, toasted oak, biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of molasses, raisin, cherry, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Slight barrel booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Mild herbal, grassy, roast, char bitterness; and cinnamon, peppercorn, rum, oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; some sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/spicy dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth, nicely soft, mild increasing warmth of 10.9%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Perfectly balanced between super rich malts, spices, and rum barrel presence/integration; with solid earthy hop presence/balance. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. One of the best Rum barrel aged beers I've had for sure. 4.33

Having my first ever Dale's Pale. Seems ridiculous I know but there it is. I get why SNPA gets all the love but this is a damn fine american pale. A couple stores out here regularly have the stovepipe for 1.99 too! And this was canned at the end of march! between this and anchor steam stovepipes I'm all set for a regular windfall of savings on my summer beer budget

Very active head. At least it would be if the gif would play....

I personally feel that it is no longer an APA and definitely an IPA now. Not complaining.

I can see that, although I have to say that has got to be one of the blurrier lines in the beer style world. India PAs have lots of hops cause they had to do something old timey. American PAs have lots of hops because 'go big or go home. we're number 1! hops are in beer? no one else has more hops than US! 'MERICA!!!!'

all the while regular old pale ale is just the normal sibling that went to college, has a solid job, is raising a nice family, and actually keeps in touch with the family

Excellent sour. Fantastic fluffy head retention/spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, ginger, red/green apple, peach, pear, melon, apricot, carrots, beets, red grape/wine, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; light peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tart/sourness, and ginger spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body; and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy wheat, lactic acid, and spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing acidic/spicy dryness; no pucker/astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic, 5.1%. Great balance of apples, ginger, carrots, beets, and Lacto complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic dryness. Beets weren't overdone, they usually have an unpleasant earthy "dirt" flavor, but were not overwhelming at all. They did a great job all around. 4.03

Crazy day at work, downed trees everywhere from heavy, wet snow. At least the boss treated us to lunch at the city golf course and one of his neighbors paid my coworker and me $30 each for cleaning up the downed maple tree branches in her yard. And then we got off work about three hours early.

Rich, dark copper colored body with a dense, creamy head; sheets of sticky foam adhere to the glass. Fruity esters and toasted grain aroma. Toasted grain and light caramel taste with a somewhat sharp hop bitterness jumping up midway through the taste and lingering long into the finish. Medium-heavy body; crisp and warm residual sugar presence; fairly dry overall.

This amber ale brings on the grain warmth and piercing hop bitterness with every sip. Good stuff.
