Drinking Summerfest

 

Starting the evening with a big, malty beer ...

 

I had the same experience recently with Jai Alai brewed by Cigar City. The first time I had it (maybe two years ago) I thought it was a stellar beer. Gave it a high rating. Bought a six pack last week and to be honest, I hated it. Maybe I got a bad batch or my taste buds changed a lot.

Anyway, sorry to hear you bought two six packs.

Another one from @AZBeerDude72. Four Peaks. Excellent fruit APWA. Nice fluffy head retention/spotty foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big juicy, lightly tart/tangy peaches, fruit skin/pits, apricot, pear, melon, red apple fruit/yeast; moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; with some herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and fruit tang/acids in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter/tart dryness, no pucker/astringency. Very flavorful/refreshing, not watery for 4.5%. Awesome balance of juicy/vibrant peaches, clean pale/wheat malts, earthy hops, and fruity yeast. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Great summer beer. Not overwhelming on any aspect. 4

Well, it is past midnight and I am closing out with a lager.




Some new hops. This beer makes for a clean lager that is first and foremost spicy, then earthy and herbal with slight hints of grass on the back end. Never goes citrus. And no bitterness. Not my ideal Pilsner but it’s well done and I respect that.
