HOMES Head Space NEIPA. This was fantastic. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, raspberry, gooseberry, currant, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, biscuit dough, light toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, not hop astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, not overly aggressive, zero warming 6.3%. Fantastic Enigma, Cryo Mosaic profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hops; with a great wheat/oat/malt backbone. Mild residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Loved it. 4.23

La Fin Du Monde, yep nothing more to say on that...though 10,000 Maniacs have lots to say about a lot of things

Also, one of my favorite authors passed away this week. Beloved is one of my favorite novels, and maybe one of the more important novels written in the last century, IMO. RIP Toni Morrison.

From @RaulMondesi. Chihuahua Cerveza Rico strong lager. This was delicious. Great rocky head retention/soapy lacing for the style. Flavors of big cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; with lighter notes of corn, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops. A bit of fruity/yeasty corn aromas, but not overwhelming. Mild herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Bready/grainy malts and some sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness; no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, pretty refreshing, no warmth of 6.5%. Very clean lager flavors, minimal fruity/yeasty notes. Great clean pils malt/grain showcase, with nice earthy hop presence for the style. Mild on adjuncts. Was a big fan. 3.91

Dark Horse x Three Floyds -- Oil of Gladness (acquired through the eminent generosity of @superspak)

    4.14/5 rDev +1%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4

Dark brown body, nearly black; thin, wispy head but lasting; rings of foam encircle the glass. Rich dark malt, dark pitted fruit, and some boozy notes in the aroma; cocoa; baker's chocolate. Rich and flavorful taste; dark chocolate dusted with cocoa; tempered sweetness, a bit dull (i.e., not too sweet); well-balanced bitterness with a bit of a boozy edge. Heavy body; oily and velvety; some alcohol heat yet nicely offset with the residual sugar.

I have no idea when this beer was brewed and bottled. It could be a couple of years old, it could be recently re-issued. Regardless, this is a righteous and intensely enjoyable barleywine. The black side of things (I'm guessing a lot of dark and patent malts along with a healthy dosing of dark roasted malts) are top notch. Very, very enjoyable.

As mentioned in my review, I have no idea when this beer was bottled and released. But, damn. Relatively old, relatively new -- machts nicht. It is a joy to drink...

That and Boston Beer Company...Boston Lager is pathetic now, and the winter pack. Man, I use to see that great Dickensian label on Holiday Porter and Old Fezziwig and just have to get the entire pack because of that, I still like the beers, but seriously just walk right past them because I just don't recognize them anymore.

Hell Yeah, @superspak , I’m glad you enjoyed the Rico. On a more serious note, you need to get your ass to SoCal! You can sleep on my couch and we’ll hit every brewery from LA to San Diego!

Enjoying my beers this evening. First, finally a one time drop of Surly in MA. Hit the spot as a breather from haze all the time.
