Worked. Did a bunch of sneaker shopping. Went a little crazy. Got some clothes too. And some grocery shopping. Not all at the same place.

Wow! I had Blackberry Farm Brewery on my list. Apparently they distribute to Iowa now! Beautiful saison, nailed the style. Breaking in the new record player. Enjoy the start to the weekend, all...

You like the new Baroness? I've heard some mixed reviews from friends and keep forgetting to listen to it myself.

Daredevil Brewing Oatmeal JWP Stout. Daredevil makes some of my favorite Indy beers. This is a good one.

While sitting at the bar drinking this beer I received an email with a presale access code to buy tickets to Jason Isbell's concert in Indy next month. Scored 8th row seats (although it was a little nerve wracking trying to quickly fill in all the info on my phone).

Another new Prairie sour. This was excellent. Great rocky/creamy head retention, soapy lacing for the style. Aromas and flavors of big sour/tart/tangy lemon, lime, orange, strawberry, pineapple, citrus peel/zest, fruit skin/seed, peach, pear, apricot, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, juniper, spruce, peppercorn, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and juniper spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang/tannins, and sticky spice in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; zero puckering. Very smooth, pretty refreshing, not overly lactic, 4.9%. Great balance of big juicy/jammy fruit and Lacto complexity; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity for the ABV. Mild residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. Very impressive as expected. 4.03

Ya I really dig it so far...I'm only on my 3rd spin and I like to give an album 6 or 7 goes before I make my final opinion. it's mellow, but I figured it would be, so it didn't surprise me. Check it out...I'd like to hear what you think. I never did get into Villians. Did you?

Waiting for the start of the Kyler Murray era with the Cardinals, and hoping it’s a good one. This is alright, it does have a deep, complex malt profile, but I agree that 2015 was the gold standard and last years pretty damn good. I bought a twelver, and I think that will suffice. I’m waiting for the Weihenstephaner Festbiers to hit, I fell in love with those last year, and ready to continue the affair with a couple of cases by the time it’s all said and done, cheers!

That is a really good saison. Then there's...

    Jackie O's Nectar Flow

    4.04/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Poured from a 16.9 ounce bottle into a tulip a small quickly disappearing head over a slightly hazy orangish yellow body. Smell ranges from sour to sweet with a hint of the wine barrel. Taste was tart and sweet but the sweetness didn't taste like honey exactly as much as it's interacting with the wine barrel. Mouthfeel was appropriately thin and thirst quenching.

Although I'm always game to try new saisons, there are plenty of similar quality that are far less expensive.

Time for some early 80's King Crimson. Which reminds me that the 50th anniversary of The Court of the Crimson King is coming up in October. I'll definitely be posting my listening binges here. For now, just Discipline...which outside of whatever Tom Waits did (Sordfish Trombone and Rain Dogs), the best album of the 80's. Then the follow up Beat which is great in itself. I really liked the combination of Adrian Belew and Robert Fripp.

Oh, I forgot, the beer...Harviestoun Old Engine Oil. One of my favorite Scottish beers I can get in the States.

A couple beers out at my "local" - along with a few generous samples, thanks so much to the owner and the bartender - and something to accompany my dinner prep.
