Cigar City Brewing announces Friday, March 13 for Hunahpu’s Day 2020

I can’t imagine BA Day followed by Huna night! Saturday truly would be a hangover day.

I’m assuming with 7th Suns quick Hangover post that CCB informed TBBW and others about their plans. I agree I think attendance will be much lower. Curious if other breweries alter the days of some events.

Very curious why the day change. I welcome it at night though.

If it’s during the day attendance will drastically plummet.

Cigar City website says 6-11pm but doesn't mention venue yet.

 

I hope BA day moves to a different day since I like going to both. The girlfriend and I agree that if there's a conflict we'd rather do BA day though. Just a comical overabundance of great beer with no pressure to get to any of it.

 

Gonna have to miss huna day this year Wife's due date is the 23rd. Was hoping they inexplicably moved this up a couple weeks into April.

 

Yeah I'm probably not taking another day off of work to come down from NC to try to squeeze this in on a Friday night. I much prefer the Saturday afternoon deal.

 

@El_Catador It would be nice if you guys would make an announcement as to the reasoning behind moving it to Friday.

An air conditioned festival with actual bathrooms is going to be so much better. Can't wait.

 

Hope they offer VIP tickets with early entry and club access to padded seating and TV for break times. I would be most tempted.

 

i'm all about the indoor-ness and AC of this, but i'm just guessing that ticket prices are gonna go up. it would be GREAT if CCB would include a ticket option for just festival attendance/drinking without having to pay for a pallet of huna. don't get me wrong, i enjoy huna and the variants, but having approximately 1,000 bottles of it makes me reticent to buy tickets.

 

why would a decision a business makes be any of your business?

 

I'm from PA and haven't been able to get tickets to BA day, so this is better for me. I did like hitting up AC or Cycle Fri night before. Guess I'll do them Sat. night.

 

Will it actually be inside the arena or simply on the property? I've been to a beerfest at an ice arena before and it was terrible. Where would it be? On the ice? In the concourses? Both offer such little space that it was be chaos with people waiting in lines everywhere. CCB's parking lot is bigger than the space inside and lets not forget how crowded it was back in 2014 and 2015

 

14 was shit show with broken scanners and fake tickets to the point they said fuckit and opened the gates. 15 was much better but still crowded. The park by the Amelie and Raymond James have been great. XFL has RJ all tied up that weekend. Good thing is XFL wont be arround in 2021 to screw it up again. LOL

 

I usually take a few days to a whole week off for TBBW. This doesn't affect me any unless some ultra rare event happens Friday at the same time and I really want to go to it.

I'm not sure if the comments about the heat are serious--aren't most of you all used to it? I for one loved the sun. And anyway, aren't us Northerners the ones that can't handle the heat? lol...

I think it's pretty cool Huna will be at night. The semi-regular changing of venue keeps things fresh and a lot of people will want to check out the new scenery.

However I have the same concern as @atothesquiz though, not so much in regards to ice, lol. You're aware these arenas have multiple uses right? They can change from ice to hardwood in a short amount of time. That aside, I'm worried about the reduction in space. I'd be curious to know how much space the full open floor is able to accommodate with seats and walls removed.
