So thoughts on if BA 11 Pipers will be in a peated scotch barrel or not?

It appears that I was wrong. Now that HS is sold out, RS membership renewal popped up in my allocations. So it appears that I can sign up for both HS and RS and then have to untangle it later. The masochist in me says, DO IT!

Remember they're doing a scotch barrel aged scotch ale next year, so my money would be on that one (if any) being a more intense flavor with peat. I'd wager the Christmas release they'd go for something more broadly appealing.

I would be happy with this, no peat the better!

Me too. I like a Laphroig every now and then, but the two peated scotch beers I've had were waaaaay too intense: Scotch Parabola, and one Stone did a couple years ago.

I believe it’s more of a chemicals leaching into the beer from the liner over time like aging for years at a time rather than a butt chugging issue lol.

So the non-intent is that they aren’t adding it during the production of the liner not that it doesn’t have any at all. It’s already rampant in the soil, water, etc. Even if there isn’t any BPA what about BPS and BPF? The “good” alternatives don’t tell you those are still there so they can make a product with somewhat equivalent performance. Easy comparison of the trade off are reduced fat foods.

If it’s a concern drink the cans and age the bottles. That’s what I did with CR and GM.

I love Laphroaig and ardbeg. My favorite scotches.

But I greatly dislike any smoke/peated flavors in any beer. I may be in the minority

On another note, I see some of the cans sold out this month. The cow cans must be popular.

I had a chance to try tasters of both of the cow beers and thought they were really enjoyable. Also tried a taster of Rue'd. It is definitely very much in your face with the coffee. Not the magic of Rue d' Floyd in my opinion. I think The Bruery produces plenty of other great coffee beers at a lower price point, so I'm glad that I passed on bottles. Also had a pour of the new Walk IPA. I haven't been the biggest fan of the hazy can releases compared to other stuff in the market, but thought Walk was really good.

Nope, same here. I love the peaty Scotches - Laphroaig, Ardbeg and on a lighter note Highland Park. But I also do not care much for peaty beers. I don't know why but it just tastes "off" to my palette.

Just thought of one that I think works: Dogfish Head Immort Ale. I like that one...I think because the peat is subtle.

I love Smoking Wood and I really didn't think Scotch Parabola was too over the top. But, Walkers Imperial Reserve! Holy crap that was too much smoke. Afraid to open the bottle I've got left.

It seems I have a garment to eat, so I might as well own up to it: HS sold out! Color me surprised. When the first HS box comes out in 2020, someone should post what the bottle count is. I'm curious to see how far above the old least upper bound of 500 it'll be.

Truth be told, we were warned, current members had first right of refusal, and enrollment was open for almost two full weeks. Unlike the CRe debacle, this sale was more than fair and done right.

Cheers to The Bruery on this one!
