    Well, I tend to look at Opeth as two different bands... to me, the songwriting has always been there, it’s just very different. As a progressive death metal band, old school Opeth have very few rivals. As a prog/doom band, the new school Opeth are kind of in a space of their own. I love both, but old school more than new school. The two ”bands” cater to very different tastes, or moods for me.

    Things are finally calm here. We had a massive dog fight. We were dog sitting my sister-in-law's dog and a neighbor's dog attacked it. Blood everywhere. My two dogs were pretty good during the fight, but very anxious afterwards. Now, finally this one's asleep and I'm drinking.
    BTW, the garden hose trick really does break up a dog fight. "Victim" dog is okay too.
