I am almost done with the pack of beef jerky. There is a bit of a spicy kick to it but just awesome. My kinda thing. I am thinking the pork jerky may be even better if that is possible.

Thanks again my friend. The beer box and the swag were just awesome. You are a generous soul.

Just looking at that box from @JBowenGeorgia while bored and hungry. So what do I do? I place an order with Stripling's. I think I drooled on myself looking at their website.

The jerky was awesome. Just finished it. I think @JBowenGeorgia created a bunch of fucking food junkies. And the shitload of beer he sent me, I am speechless.

    Raised Grain Brewing Company

Black Walnut Belgian Imperial Stout (9.7%)

The beer pours opaque and black. A lofty, light brown head that settles down leaving some lacing. As I drink the beer thick streaks of foam are left in the wake.

The aroma is nutty and woody, with bakers chocolate and some sweeter notes of milk chocolate. The roasted malt is intense and savory, bordering on smokey and meaty.

The intensity of the flavor profile matches that of the aroma. A full bodied beer with moderate carbonation, this stout offers a hoppy, lemony, pithy and bitter espresso bite up front, followed by an intensely roasted malt flavor profile with toasted, and bitter, nearly burnt bread. Earthy, finishing with nutty, and bitter coffee. Umami.

A huge ass stout. Not because of the 9.7% ABV, but due to the combination of the intense level of hopping, roasted malt bitterness and savory notes. A lot of different intense flavors combined. If you don’t like bitter, take a pass here. If you’re up for a unique stout with a bold attitude this beer may be the one for you. I am quite enjoying it!

    Thank you @Oconomowocian !

A pleasant surprise with an unknown brewery, and now heightened expectations for the other two stouts you sent from Raised Grain!

    Cheers savages!

My body sticks to early hours during the school year. Pretty much impossible to sleep past 6am, even on the weekends alas!

That suuuucks, but totally understand. Every time I have to rejoin civilization it takes 3-4 days before my body actually switches back to days.

Top notch review! Now I want to try another one of these and compare notes, but my palate is nowhere near yours. Cheers Anthony!

I'm very excited to see how this beer changes with the bourbon and rye barrel versions that you also sent to me. Hoping to do them side-by-side, but two 16 oz cans at 10% will require a good amount of time blocked without any responsibilities. I am hoping late night this Friday!
