Also fell into the "too sweet to finish" camp. Happy I split with a buddy who is going to give me something else for the 2 pack. It's a "good" beer in small doses, but I certainly don't need a 4 pack.

I agree, I honestly think it ceases to be beer at that point and becomes a mixed drink. I wish there were a method to test, because I am extremely curious what the calories are in that beer. It has to be over 400.

Not sure how it could possibly become a mixed drink ...

Simply based on taste. Being that sweet, it tastes more like a mixed drink than a beer (obviously my opinion). If I want a sweet, syrupy drink , I'll opt for the Mai Tai. If I want a beer, well, I want a beer

AH, I misunderstood - you meant figuratively not literally. Carry on. :stuck_out_tongue:

You must not drink many of the hyped up stouts or hazies, considering the sweetness out there. Sweet & syrupy is where all the hyped beer is at.

I didn't find Fat Bear too sweet, and have definitely had plenty of other beers that I did think were too sweet that I couldn't finish. I didn't have to force myself to drink the whole can of Fat Bear.

Bitter Pops has Fat Bour on their self-pour machine downstairs, in case someone would like to try an oz or 3 to test the sweetness...

I 100% believe that all of this is correct... but the FT/ISO post featuring these bottles comes off as some dudes that decided to post ridiculous ISO to try and create value for these bottles.

I don’t know which you have seen but several have moved in the $120-150 a bottle range. I imagine most will settle closer to $100 after a while.

And that's a steal for the quality of these beers. Glad to have 10 left to drink through.

Okay, now I'm curious. A beer worth $100 is something I'd like to taste.

$100+ for home brews. Untappd hype cracks me up.

Would never pay that for much for a beer, but I will say it's more worth it than Bye Bye VR.

That's cute. Have you ever tried his beers?

That's fair; I wouldn't pay that much either, which is why your statement made me curious.

This week's contentious topic is clearly stout pricing!

Come on man, you have to know you are going to be ridiculed on a beer forum when you post that a $100 beer is a steal. For the most part, people on this board know about their options and quality of beer.

No, but I've been around long enough to see plenty of hype trains for the hot, new brewery on the Chicagoland block.

Look, I'm not saying his beers are bad. But straight 5 star ratings on Untappd is a joke. I mean, are you trying to tell me his stouts are better than BBT? Could they even hold BBT's jock strap? Cuz based on Untappd, he's the second coming of Corey King. And there can only be one king

Im not on Untappd because I could care less about checking into beer. In my opinion, his straight BA stout is on par with Maman. Brian is also on par with Shaun Berns for stout brewing and aging, maybe why they have such a great relationship. People can call me a fan boy all they want, but I'm happy with what I have had from Barclay. There's little guys making big ass BA beers lately, time for the underdogs to get some recognition for once.
