Please see my first comment in parenthesis (one of which is my favorite beer.) It's just such a hassle around here getting alot of their offerings, and we're one of the states to which they actually distribute. I can procure so many other great BA stouts with less heartache and/or price gauging.

I'm not sure I'll say that I "give up" on any brewery. I'm always up for trying something new/different if it comes around.
If I had to pick one from what is currently out there, I'd say Rogue. The majority of the beer is mediocre at best, and the price point is way too high. I wont be buying anything from them as of now, but like I said - I'd try something new.

I concur, in your first part. Founders stuff has been awesome so far for me, but damn if they don't make it about impossible to find around me. My least favorite one has been FBS actually, so far.

I hear what you're saying. Hell, I live in SE Michigan and I can barely get my hands on their limited releases. Only one of the three beer stores I frequent got a shipment of Bolt Cutter and it was only 24 bottles x_x Many of the stores around don't even get KBS at all.

Terrapin for me. Maybe I have just tried the wrong beers, but nothing has made me want to try more.

Westvleteren. Come on, guys, 3 beers? Variety is the spice of life. Monks are allowed to have spices, right?

They won't, it's for sale. If you have 3 million you can buy it. Hopefully someone will get it who can put the state of the art brewing system to good use. I cry when I see that all copper system being used for crap.

I've long since given up on Rogue. I'm not a fan of their pacman yeast and everything I've had has been mediocre at best. Nothing has really bombed, and the prices aren't bad (not counting the absurdly priced 7 oz. bottles), but they just don't do it for me.

Magic Hat is another. It seems every time they come out with something decent it either disappears forever or comes back as the ghost of itself. Heart of Darkness was solid though.

Rogue, Abita, White Birch, and Maine Beer. That last one could come off the list if they go back to their old process for that "spooky similar to Pliny" beer.

I went to Gilded Otter when I was home on the 12th of November. That place has really gone downhill. It was never a favorite of mine, but damn, they've got nothing interesting. As the only brew-pub in New Paltz (that I'm aware of, now living in MD), they had an opportunity to do good things.

So I assume you don't approve of any of the drainpour threads either?

This is a site that allows people to express an opinion. Again, if you don't like a thread, don't post in it. Easy.

I am done with Magic Hat (have been for awhile) and Rogue. Rogue mostly for the high prices and average beers (many below average too), Magic Hat for the horrible beers that they mostly produce.

I have to agree with maine beer. Although they have solid offerings they are easily replaceable with much more economical beers that are just as good. I know its cheaper in maine but at 8.00 for a bottle of lunch one state over, I will reach for a double jack 8/10 times.

    Also agree with Abita

O' Fallon....not that I was ever surprised to begin with but wanted to give them a chance.

Honorable Mention goes to a local place, Penn Brewery. They are hanging because their small batch 001 experiment was simply terrific.

While I understand your point, is this not a beer forum on a beer site created for the purpose of discussing every aspect (albeit good and bad) of beer?

Buffalo Bills. After that Orange Blossom Cream Ale and Pumpkin beer.....yikes!

Rogue. Priced too high compared to same or better offerings from other brewers. Most beers were pretty average (save for the Chocolate Stout I enjoyed). Too many meh beers for too much $ spent to go back.

BMC stuff: Watered down yellow fizz does not do it for me anymore. Water is a better option. (For those inclined to point out....yes....I will still drink GI.)
