Yeah, no Frontier Days for the first time in 124 years. :slight_frown:

I have a feeling you’ll remember 2020 for something else...

They canceled the Boston Marathon for the first time in its history, also 124 years.

They still held a lot of shit that year. Boston Marathon apparently. The Red Sox won a title that year, so they played the World Series that fall too.

Not to get too off topic here, but the US was also involved in World War I in 1918. The MLB season was shortened that year, but because of the war, which was the country's priority at the time, not Spanish Flu. Sorry, but my love for beer is second only to my love for baseball... I mean my family.

Well, yeah -- but I was talking beer-wise, you know? BA beer-centric?
Saw that yesterday about the marathon -- first question was, "Really? They were into running that long ago?"

To the other events, I guess we just can't compare culture at all closely to 100 years ago.

And it's hard to believe that a year later the White Sox botched up the whole thing -- with the pandemic still raging. Very odd juxtaposition of so many different historical events.

I bought a 12 pack over the weekend to enjoy with my family on memorial day. I never had Summerfest before but I was disappointed when all the Summerfest at my local grocery store had a bottling date of 3/2019. It was still a decent beer but since I never had it before I would have like to taste it fresh.

You really need to let SN know that old beer is being sold.

Damn! When I first read it I thought it was this March.

That’s old even by German standards.

I had to double-take myself. Guess my area isn't the only spot with underhanded distros.

I picked up a 6 pack today and I’m glad to report it’s delicious as ever! This beer also brings about a certain nostalgia. This first sip of one today reminded me of the beers my dad would give me sips of when I was younger. Something about that flavor profile is amazing to me. I do find this year’s less bitter and more crushable.

You are listed as being from Maryland but what you discuss here sounds quite a bit like PA.

    Cheers!

I’m in southern Maryland about 2 hours south of the pa/md border.

Finally found some Summerfest in a SN mixed case at Costco dated 032720. Tastes as delicious as I remember despite the age and warm storage. I am hoping the 12 packs are available soon and are real fresh for the upcoming warm weather. The Mrs. likes the Wild Little Thing in the case, so if necessary I repeat this purchase as long as it is available.

I finally found my first 12 pack of Summerfest last night at Kroger. Packaged on 3/27/20, so just a little over 2 months old and it was even on sale for $13.99 for a 12 pack! Sold! Having one right now and it's the same beautiful pilsner it's always been. Sweet malts up front, spicy, grassy and herbal hops with a crisp, dry moderately bitter noble hop finish. Fantastic!

Its my first time trying Summer Fest right now. After the first few sips my first thought is Pale Ale. Now now towards the end of the bottle it's tasting like a German lager. I like it, it's good. I will probably buy some more and try save a few to drink later.
