Their Coolship Lager just hit this area. It intrigued me, have you had it?

I'd take Fox Farm over any in NH for their wide scope of high quality in many styles. OEC is a little limited variety for me, but I do really like what they do.

(i grew up in CT and 90% of my family still there)

I had on tap a few times last summer but recently saw the regular and dark can options. I enjoyed on tap, light, refreshing, little hint of background tartness.

Not sure if this has been discussed in other NH threads, but it’s interesting to think about age demographic in NE states. A lot of “hyped” breweries were started by younger brewers with their finger on the pulse of the industry and eye catching labels/logos/brands. Thinking about the majority of NH owned breweries, I feel like a large amount are owned by middle/older aged. NH seems to have an issue attracting younger business owners into the state. Maybe I’m completely off base, but just a theory.

Full disclosure, I went to college with one of the head brewers of Litherman's Limited, so I am biased. I don't know what you consider middle/older aged (I'm 42). Maybe I'm entering "boomer" phase, but they strike me as a NH brewery that has eye catching brand.

However, you bring up a interesting point. Are these breweries supposed to be focusing on eye catching stuff to pull people in and thus become a destination?

And going back to my original point, Litherman's isn't a hyped brewery, but in my opinion they're great at what they do and have enough variety to appeal to more than the IPA seeking beercationers. Maybe I am turning into the crotchety old guy, but the jam packed hype breweries don't appeal to me very much. Is this what OP is asking?

I don’t think he was taking about beer - the state itself just sucks.

Oh yeah, in terms of "doing stuff" in general I'd go to NH every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Connecticut.

I live here and it's pretty great to be honest. Sure, I could deal with a few less of you people from June - October, but it's never really that crazy to get into anything, and there's a ton of great beer and food all over the place.

Yes you do have to drive, briefly, through NH to get to Maine but you can get to Vermont without going through NH. It may take you a lot longer to get to where you want in Vermont by avoiding NH but it also depends on where you live in MA  . Personally I live on the border of NH and spend quite a bit of time there, even to get beer. I visit Vermont the least of probably any of the New England states.

If NH was where VT was, and vice versa, would you go to NH as much?

I wouldn’t use Seabrook/Hampton Beach as the gauge for how many people in NH are wearing masks. I drive around a large chunk of Southern NH for work and over the past month I’ve seen more people complying than ever. Fingers crossed we don’t see any spike in the future.

This is is true for every single statement ever made about N.H.

That said, I live on the border of N.H. I can say that it's honestly around 50/50 where I am. In the last two weeks, I've been at the fish market, N.H. Liquor Store, beer store, and ran into the grocery store for eggs. It's legit 1:1 people wearing masks v. not wearing masks.

I don't understand why this is so fucking difficult.

In Somerville they just made it mandatory. No masks, no service. You can't even enter a place without one.

Also, seriously, how pathetic are we as a country that we can't suck it up and wear a mask to potentially help other people?

I hear people complain about having to wear one when they enter a store. Please. I have to wear one about 14 hours a day during the work week. Suck it up (assuming one doesn't have breathing issues, that's absolutely understandable).

Location plays a big part. Though NH has a lot of amenities, there are lots of reasons to go to NH. Granted its location is also part of the reason it has those amenities.

Right, yeah it was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

I like NH. I'd go to VT more often if it wasn't so far away. And I go to NH more because it's so much closer.

It's definitely a bit of an unfair comparison. I was at a wedding at Mount Washington earlier this year and it was a killer time, absolutely gorgeous views.

It's almost as if there are far less cases in certain towns in NH than in Somerville, Mass.

    I mean, come on people.

Germany only has 190,000 cases and 9,000 deaths, and they got the virus before we did.

    And they're still wearing masks.

    https://www.thelocal.de/20200609/pa...s-germany-eases-out-of-the-coronavirus-crisis

Massachusetts alone has 106,000 cases and 7,700 deaths.

And Somerville, the most densely populated city in the third most densely populated state in the country only has 953 cases and 29 deaths. And they were the first city to offer free testing, regardless of whether you're asymptomatic or not. So they've likely been able to detect far more cases than other towns/cities in MA.

Lynn is the 25th most densely populated city in MA and has 3,585 cases and 95 deaths.

Likely because Somerville has one of the strictest policies regarding mask wearing in the state, among other precautions they've taken.

Why not wear a mask inside an establishment? Because it's uncomfortable? I have to wear a shirt inside a store on a hot day. And that doesn't even have the potential to protect anyone else (assuming I look good with my shirt off, and I do ).

    No mask. No merch.

Did someone come up with that already? It needs a third M thing to really drive it home though.

I can sit around all day picking numbers left and right, as well.

But I don't live in Germany. And I don't live in Somerville or Lynn. I live in a town that has less than five active cases. I imagine they implemented the strict mask policy precisely because of the outbreaks in the Boston area.

That's why I don't think Germany, Somerville, or Lynn precautions should apply universally. That's why I don't think folks from Mass. should lecture people in areas with lesser cases how to go about their days, especially as they flood into those areas for vacations.

And I also don't believe the extreme anti-mask MUH FREEDUM folks should be shitting on people who do choose to wear masks.

It's a ridiculous time to live in, and I re-read all this and feel ridiculous for turning into Guy Who Argues Politics On The Internet, but here we are.

And I promised myself I wouldn't drink tonight.
