So I was close. The fruit I got is from SARA's amazing yeast and this is another huge want. Cellarman, amazing Saison right up there with Bernice in my opinion. I have now consumed 4 major wants and we are only on day 2. I also still have the Mornin Delight extra that I have not cracked yet. Thank you @brewnic !!!
Day 2 from @thatoneguymike - definitely a stout, plenty of coffee, milk sugar, and pungent oak barrel. This bottle sure looks like one from Scofflaw to me - I'm pretty psyched about this one.
Day 1 beer yesterday from @JBowenGeorgia Lot's of upfront barrel and something else I can't place. I finally gave up and looked. Coconut Rum Absentium. The rum was really throwing me off. Great way to start out day 1. Thanks John.
Day 2 brings two beers. The first is sweet with barrel (I’m guessing rum) with some dark chocolate notes. This is decadent. Rum the Mules- my first ever Prairie Dawgz bottle. This was an exceptional beer. 2B was likely also from Prairie due to bottle size. Coffee and what I thought was peanuts were dominant. There was a sweetness, but no barrel like the first. Another really nice beer. Adjunct Trail! I had a pour of the AC version at DLD so it was cool to close the loop with both collabs. This one didn’t have as much coconut but was still excellent. (There is also the possibility of drunken bias from my DLD pour). Thanks for a great Day 2, @Sturgeon83!
And the reveal - Scofflaw, for sure! This was a wishlist bottle, and I'm really appreciative @thatoneguymike - since my first Scofflaw bottle, I've been wanting more and to try a barrel-aged release, and I love that coffee. Thank you again!
Day 2 from @JBowenGeorgia. Nicely done fruited sour. Bottle shape reminds me of Jester King, but not the correct cap for that. I know that John sends bottles from Creature Comforts so I would guess something from them. Fruit involved maybe peach or nectarine. Big fan of everything I've tried from them. Great day 2. Thanks John
Day 2 from @xKURTx nutty nose. Chocolate and peanut butter. Delicious! Thank you @xKURTx https://imgur.com/gallery/ubwId4G The reveal! I wondered about coconut but definitely got that peanut butter! I love me some peanut butter https://imgur.com/gallery/Jm6uiDa
Day 2 thanks to @azuelke ... figured I was due for a Wisco beer and I love raspberries.... Funk Factory from the cork... 2019 Frampaars with purple raspberries, a tasty new tick! Adam warned me he went “light” today so I’d be ready for the next two days Thanks?! Adam
Day 2 moffffffuuuuuuuuuuhhhs....thanks again to @max13 , awesome lineup... Alright, so that color on the pour said to me, like....SUPER hazy, thick IPA or sour of some sort...nose was faint but the first taste gave away it was not an IPA...got a bit of orange, some creamy fruit....I eventually settled on peaches & cream.... Annnnnndddd....drumroll..... YESSSSS!! Close enough, anyway! Suck it, palate! I know my stuff. Sorta... Beer 2 was crazy on the pour. No doubt about it that it was another fruit sour/puree, poured thick as hell, like a smoothie...Dark purple, looks like Welch's but thicker... Taste led me to grapes, blueberries, blackberries.... And I was pretty damn close!! Boysenberries, black currants, and blackberries... Awesome beer, I figure I could walk into work holding this thing and people would be like, 'man, Mike is drinking some healthy-ass lookin smoothies these days, I thought Jamba Juice closed down?' Knocked Day 2 right outta the park, @max13 , the beers have been great so far! Thanks again, man!
Well, @Scottsbeer had quite the bottle planned for me. Which I realized yesterday from transporting it from the cellar to the upstairs fridge. There is no mistaking that size bottle, in combination with the shape and wax. And the fact it was Tuesday... No need for a blind picture, since I already knew it was a Black Tuesday. Port Wine barrel aged to boot! Sorry, this is the only reveal picture I was able to grab, as I made some very poor decisions. Thanks Scott!
Day 2A from @locoformavs started with with this one. Knew this was an IPA from the pour, lots of sweet citrus on the nose and taste. Good body, most likely a double, getting some nice mild hop burps after a few sips. And the reveal was Qui-Gon Jinn and Juice with Tangerine. Thought for sure there was some added citrus in this one. On to 2B appears to be a big barleywine upon pouring. Getting dark fruits, caramel, lots of chocolate, abv peeks out a bit on the finish. As it warmed there was a spiciness that I can't quite place. That one was definitely a sipper, reveal shows it is a New Image Wood Experimental Series BW. They use a different 'fresh wood' in each batch whatever that entails. Logan also sent another of these so it will be interesting to compare the different wood treatment. Thanks for another excellent day @locoformavs!
@azuelke I followed the recommendations and didn't send the 2016. The 2017 Port Barrel aged was under 18% . I didn't think you would chug it though
Day 2 from @winehead247 super smooth and velvety chocolate, lots of sweet without seeming overly adjuncted and just a big, delicious thicccboi Took off the tape and revealed it to be That's No Moon from Wakefield. I didn't pick up the cinnamon, but damn this is an easy-drinking, tasty 13% RIS. Drank this all by myself (aside from a taste for the 6-year-old) and could have put down another one it was so good. Very well done. Thanks, Blake!
