It's amazing how their core lineup is better than 99% of the hazy shit out there

We have a new member of the family. This is Gomez, a 2 month old Australian Cattle Dog from a shelter in El Paso. Our other two dogs are happy he is here.

I'm having a Night Putting Pale Ale from Flying Dog. This beer probably has the lightest nose I've come across. Gotta strain to get some sweet citrus. It's stronger on the taste. There's hoppy citrus. Orange, grapefruit and lemon. Overall, it's not Flying Dog's best effort. But it's ice cold on a hot day, so at least I have that going for me.

Just back from Fort Greene, Brooklyn, (NY), where my eldest just moved into a new apartment. I was born in Brooklyn, as were most of my relatives going back 5 or 6 generations, but throughout the 60's and 70's, we diasporized (perhaps a neologism?) throughout metro NYC and beyond. She is the first to return and my pride and joy.

BTW, scored several brews from Transmitter in the Brooklyn Navy Yards. Stay Tuned, Stay Safe, and Sláinte!

Her: Do you want a sip?
Me: Do I look like TheGoseHunter?

Drinking two beers which I've been wondering if they're the same beer in different packages. On the left is Zeunerts Merke, 5.3% abv, on the right Zeunerts Original 5.3% abv. From Kopparbergs bryggeri. Both use pilsner malt and Magnum and Hallertauer Mittelfrüh hops as per the brewery (supposedly the Original uses some Mittelfrüh after the boil). Colorwise the Merke is slightly darker than the Original, so right away it's clear it's two different beers. How they achieve that color difference is anyone's guess, some Munich, caramel malt or color malt? The aroma of the beers is very similar with a mixture of pale malt and yeast fruitiness, though the Original is slightly brighter smelling. The flavor is also similar with some mild maltiness and a mild balancing hop bitterness (the Merke might be slightly more bitter), some light non descript hops, without any perceptible sweetness and a dry aftertaste. Both come across as dry and mild beers. The mouthfeel is similar as well, maybe the Merke is ever so slightly thicker, that could be the result of some caramel malt and a slightly higher starting gravity I guess.

I think both beers are tasty Swedish Export beers though the differences between them appear to be slight. Why not set them apart more recipe-wise? If consumed ice cold I don't know that the differences, aside from the color, that I picked up on would even be noticed.
