    Beautiful Late Summer Day in Chicago.

    Nice walk from Jefferson Park to Spiteful Brewing.

    First pour, 40 Feet Below, a Grisette Saison. First time for me. $6 plus tax and tip, 16 oz plastic cup (Meh COVID),

    Appearance: Clear light straw golden pour, nominal carbonation, bright white head leaves nominal lacing. 3.25

    Aroma: Light funky and peppery, slightly sweet. 3.0

    Taste:     Consistent with aroma, light spicy pepper leads, slightly funky, sweet grape. Refreshing. 3.5

    Mouthfeel:     Light crisp clean refreshing, nominal lightly fizzy carbonation, easy clean finish. 3.75

    Overall:     This is a good saison by Spiteful, very light body and taste though what exists is pleasant and refreshing. 3.5

    Vinyl day in XRT, single sides throughout the day. Hard to beat the first three song stretch after turning it on, from American Beauty, Side One. Few sets give me complete unadulterated joy!

    Second and final pour, also new to me, is Spiteful Brewing’s Helles Lager, $7 16 oz draft pour into a plastic cup.

    Appearance: Crystal clear golden pour, medium carbonation, very bright white head leaves creamy rich lacing. Nice. 4.25

    Aroma:     Very nice bread cracker aroma, peppery. Light but what I do catch is inviting. 3.75

    Taste:     Taste somewhat subdued as well, but pleasant and consistent with aroma. Salty cracker, pepper provides contrast, light and crisp. 3.75.

    Mouthfeel:     Very light, carbonation fades into oblivion, medium slightly creamy body, very light and easy drinking. 4.0

    Overall:     Nice and easy Helles, nice and refreshing on a perfect late Summer day. 3.75

    Haven’t heard this song playing at the brewery in a while, hope we can all visit our favorite Italian restaurant soon.

    Home now, pouring the first glass of my latest home brew - “Karma Citra” a session IPA; my final reading came in at 3.56% abv., bottled 8/20/20:

    Looks fine. Nose is all lemons and oranges. Taste follows but I also get black pepper (?). Body is watery thin. Light on the alcohol and tastes fine...perfect for this hot weekend coming up. Cheers!
