    I'm enjoying an old favorite: Plead the 5th. It's been cellared for a while and is super smooth, with a rich and harmonious flavor. Dark beer from Dark Horse to brighten dark days.

    Brewed by Averie Swanson, formerly of Jester King, her new brewery brewed out of Half Acre facilities, Keeping Together’s Architects of Harmony.

    Still excellent as it was when I cracked open a bottle months ago.

    Nirvana’s unplugged the next vinyl album spinning in WXRZ. Hard to go wrong with any song during this session.

    Sorta doing work here at the end of a Friday, sorta watching the Avs/Stars game 7 on the TV in the other room. Sorta trying to distract and intoxicate myself in case the Avs snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in this series.

    WOOHOO Dinner!

    Starting off with a von Trapp Bohemian Pilsener; can is marked Best by 11/03/20

    Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow with a foamy bright white head which sticks around for a bit then settles to a soapy film. Little to no lace.

    Scent is a bit muted for me but lemon citrus and crackery grains with light fruit.

    Taste is spicy and sharply peppery with some pear or apple, lemony citrus. Quite a lot of hops here. Spicy hops, citrus hops, herbal hops. Very long bitter dry finish. Lemon takes on a creamy and tangy sweetness but is quickly overwhelmed by the intense bitterness. Some doughy bread in the background.

    Mouth is substantial and creamy but with a stout carbonation and a crispy dry finish.

    Drinkability is very good.

    Was never a big fan of pilseners but I really love the peppery spice and intense dry bitterness here.

    Grateful Dead really getting some love today, awesome to see. Local beer man suggested I give this a try all the way from Canada. Bright orange haze, looks even more like OJ in person. Smell is all stone fruit with sweet malt. Taste pretty much follows, not really any bitterness. I enjoy it. Cheers!
