I bought Lunch today at Whole Foods for $6.99. Drank it along the river after a jog and I agree it's always a great drink.

Back on Mayberry BA!

 

The only starts hops I have tried is in a home brew, which was good. I got a lot of strawberry. I need to re-evaluate my ipa choices.

 

Ratings, reputation, rarity, hype, “big beer” or craft; this is all that really matters

 

Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup

1) Bent Paddle's Classic, a delicious helles-style lager with great honey and flower notes.
2) Kato Beer from Mankato Brewery, another helles, but this one was sour and tart. Must be infected. Would not recommend.
3) Paulaner Oktoberfest, an excellent and earthy festbier straight from the heartland
4) Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest, another great festbier that is slightly more bready and toasted with less flower than the previous.
5) Maui Brewing Windmilss Hazy IPA with Nelson-Sauvin hops. Has great gooseberry, green citrus/grape, and berry flavors. A great balance between tart and sweet juice.
6) Bent Paddle's Bent Hop IPA, A "golden IPA" with pine and citrus flavors with a herbal backbone. A good, but not great IPA.

Winner of the night: Maui Brewing Windmills Hazy IPA. The Nelson-Sauvin hops provide an excellent flavor that is almost reminiscent of the green citrus flavor from the notorious Pseudosue. Fantastic flavor profile here.
The Oktoberfests were great too. I think I prefer the Paulaner, due to the lightness, and showcases more of a Noble hop profile as well.

Have you tried Maui's Windmills IPA, and what did you think? Have you tried either of the Paulaner or Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfests, and do you have a preference?
