Isaac is now 11 and a half, and he’s perfected the begging arts, particularly when food scraps are in play. Like me, he’s long overdue for a jaunt to the ‘Ham, Terry! We’ll be sure to give you fair and friendly warning when we again traverse north! :+1:

Next time y'all venture North, you must bring him. I know all the best walkie/fetch/dog-friendly drinking places.

    YASS!

    Definitely!

My cellar might need some culling before certain wares grow too old, so cooler will be in tow! :heavymetal:

My daughter is almost 14. Early in the lockdown we watched, in proper sequence, the following film series (plus a shitload of Pixar/Dreamworks Animation movies):
    • Star Wars
    • Marvel (Hulk through Endgame)
    • Lord of the Rings (extended)
    • Hobbit (extended)
    • Back to the Future
    • Indiana Jones
    • Austin Powers
7 is definitely a bit young for most of these (I still remember being terrified by a couple scenes when I saw Star Wars in the theater when it came out in 1977, when I was about that age) but it’s definitely gotten easier and more fun as she’s transitioned to middle school. And she’ll be off to college way too soon.

That is one solid lineup. I look forward to sharing some of these with her before she’s too cool for school, which carries extra weight for me as a college instructor.

    Challenge accepted!

Enjoy these years before long she will be a 16/17..like my one and she will not want to spend so much time with Dad, until some allowance is required or eating out. But thats life, bittersweet as usual.
Mine's 17 now and hopefully will be the first of my family to go to proper college.

The boys (10 and 7) and I are working our way through the Star Wars series. Even watched Rogue 1 (Thought that was really good) and Solo story (it was a fun take, we all enjoyed Han being thrown in to the “beast”). Today, we watch The Empire Strikes Back. The boys always ask what is my favorite one. I go back and forth between this and Return of the Jedi.

I can’t wait until their a little older so we can watch Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

Anyway to keep it beer related, still no FH, but I have a couple of Pilsners and maybe a BIB ready to quench my thirst.

My kids are 9 and 7, and I can't get them interested in Star Wars.

And to keep it beer related, I'll be opening up some more fresh hops after I get back from this morning's cub scout hike.

My daughter started Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Harry Potter when she was 6 (she’s now 8). She handled them all well.

Before Raiders we warned her about the ****s melting and exploding. When it happened she laughed and thought it was hilarious. She also thinks ****s should be punched in the face.

I can’t believe I forgot to include the Harry Potter movies in that list. I think we did the Marvel movies, then Star Wars, then HP. I also forgot about Wayne’s World, I think we did a whole Mike Myers weekend. My daughter has read the entire HP series something like 10 times, definitely prefers the books to the movies.

When we were in Edinburgh (after I was finished projectile-vomiting into a garbage can in the corner of a little courtyard just off the Royal Mile, while my daughter watched, after I’d eaten a bad scotch egg in a little pub the night before—I can still get a laugh out of her anytime just by mentioning it) we did our own Harry Potter tour of the city. Even stumbled on the “actual” Diogan Alley completely by mistake.

And yeah, we’ve been pretty protective about what she watches but it’s been based mostly on what she could handle. She cried watching Dumbo (original animated version) when she was little because of some scene where one character was being cruel to another character, and she still won’t watch E.T. for a similar reason. But she’s fine with all the action/violence in other films, and also finds much of it pretty hilarious. You can never tell what kids are going to respond to.

    You have raised her well.

    -----

Beer: I was in bed early last night after a mere 2 pints. Been that kind of week.

There are no new FRESH HOPS in the house. Mrs. vurt has expressed an interest in changing that sad state of affairs. I still have most of a crowler of Less Talk More Rauch to get through, but that will have to wait until after the chores are done.

Maybe I should use some for beer bread. Hmmm.

While I was recovering after heart surgery we had Addie stay with my parents for a few weeks. They watched Bridge to Terrabithia on D+ knowing nothing about it.

    Whoops.

it was the the first and only movie ever to destroy her emotionally.

Got my can of FH Ripe today. All is right with the world.

Just picked up Stoup Fresh Hop Fiend and Matchless Stratafresh at the Central Market in Shoreline while getting stuff for dinner. Bottom of this can says "Simcoe 09/21/20," which makes me wonder if there are different varieties of this beer featuring other fresh hops. Anyone know? I checked their website but my attention span is low right now, wasn't able to immediately figure it out based on what I saw.

Also grabbed a Matchless Stratafresh. For later.

EDIT: The answer was on the can: "This label will stay the same but the beer inside will change. Be sure to check the bottom of the can for the hop variety..."
