Also getting prepped for UVa's first game of the season. Just flipped to the game @russpowell is stressing about.

DC Brau vs Commonwealth (VA) Oktoberfests - DC Brau is darker and had a more dark toast taste last weekend. A bit of caramel and toffee as well as that dark bread (not quite pumpernickel, but towards that) and some dark fruit.

Commonwealth is nearer to Sierra Nevada's color, and has a profile somewhat reniscent of that earlier brew. There's a bit of citrus and floral - but there's also a medium toast and earthy aspect to it that reminds me a tad of Konstantin. It's actually got a little bit of a surprise in the form of a light grass/fresh pine bitterness in back.

I like the bread notes of DC Brau, but going into the afternoon, the slightly lighter and more bitter Commonwealth is getting some extra sips. Cheers, and go Hoos!

Beer #6. Not sure when it becomes socially unacceptable to drink festbiers, but I plan to keep drinking them for quite awhile longer.

 

It’s a bit hotter out today than I’d like (though good temp for the grass seed haha) so I’m calling an audible and switching to some hops. I’ve been in love with Zombie Dust since it hit NJ. Goes down so easy. Cheers!
