A fine barleywine from Surly listed as an American but drinks more like an English version IMHO.

 

Had Mongolian stir fry for early dinner. Hot and teriyaki sauces in rice. Chicken.

Hadn't seen that Surly was going to the canning format on their anniversary beers - cool presentation for sure!

 

I can honestly say I drank all the beer in the house. $900 credit spent on postage when I'm more or less unemployed. Still considered sobering up 2020 or until this shit change changes.

 

Starting this gloomy day here with some Nelson hops courtesy of Trillium - Dot Ave. Pungent lemongrass spice and white wine grapes are making me want to sing opera and classical tunes. Cheers everyone!

Aslin Stating The Obvious Vienna Lager

I am very confused about this beer's label. For starters, it's a bad label: boring, with a long name that wraps around the can, and unless you are familiar with Aslin's logo you may not be able to tell what brewery makes this beer. But the most confusing part is that it states (with rather big letters) that this is a "Bottom-fermented, grain-based alcoholic beverage with Vienna malt and some other ingredients". Would a simple Vienna Lager not suffice? I mean, the only additional info you are offering is "with some other ingredients" which may or may not mean hops, yeast, water or perhaps some adjuncts? Not helpful at all.

But the beer itself is good. Very good in fact. Should have bought more of them.

As I was off work today, as I was able to run quite a few errands, including voting! Currently roasting a chicken for dinner, seems like a good choice on this wet and dreary day. Taking a beer break with this delicious ipa from Lawson’s, before I prep the potatoes and veggies. Cheers BA!

Pineapples and resinous bitterness, pretty light and easy-drankin' for 9%. Thumbs up, I like it. Cheers!
