I’m in between rain bands, and it looks like the storm here will continue for days, so I’m gonna work in the RV when I can...Great beer! Canned 11/7/18. Roasty malt, bourbon and dark fruit. So loving sipping on this beer while I bring stuff in from the camper...Thanks again Vann! Cheers Now gang!

This combination makes for a lovely and relaxing afternoon. No rain here yet, although we're certain to get some sooner or later.

I am drinking Gulden Draak 9000, which sounds like the name of a mainframe computer. “Yeah, we switched to the Gulden Draak 9000 last week and doubled our processing speed.” Anyway, a 10.5% Quad from Brouwerij Van Steenberge that is part of a holiday six pack from the brewery that usually makes its way into my market about this time of year. Will likely crack open another of the six-the Piraat-after this. Cheers.

Worked through the English Bitter pour quickly, one of my favorites here.

Next up a new beer for me, Spiteful Brewing’s Whale Tale Amber, a 4.5% Dry Amber Ale. $4.50 for a 10 oz draft pour. Per discussion with the bartender, it’s brewed in collaboration with Pequods, a local pizza place.

Appearance: Clear golden amber pour, bright white head with fine bubbles leaves creamy lacing in its wake. Faint carbonation. Nice looking Amber Ale. 4.0

    Aroma:
Very nice roasted malt aroma, caramel and toffee vibrant, like a candy store well made treat. Lemon and citrus hops aroma helps provide balance. 4.75

    Taste:
Mirrors aroma, more balanced with the sweetness subdued by hops bitterness taking the lead. Malt caramel and toffee holds their own, taste as pleasant as the aroma. This is an excellent Amber Ale, I believe the best I’ve had. 4.75

    Mouthfeel:
Light medium body, faint carbonation holds throughout, creamy malt provides solid backbone, hops providing g nice dry and bitter notes, excellent balance, clean finish. 4.25

    Overall:
This is a most excellent light ABV Amber Ale, bold in aroma and taste. Highly recommend if you are looking for an excellent tasting light abv beer. 4.5

Last beer at Spiteful, then going to a bar I’ve been going to since they opened (new owner past two years, still good) if they are open.

Spiteful Brewing G. F. Y. Stout, an 8% Dry American Stout, $5.5 for 10 oz.

Appearance: Pitch black pour, tan head recedes quickly leaving ring around the top of the pour. 3.75

    Aroma:
Rich chocolate roast malt aroma, backed my toffee and caramel. Bold, pleasant and on the sweet side. 4.0

    Taste:
Wow, this really packs a punch. Bold sweet caramel and peanut butter, reach creamy and excellent. A beer Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, with a salt fudge back. Coffee not detected in the aroma also bold, rich and incredible. This is one of my favorite non barrel aged stouts, how have I not had this before. 5.0

    Mouthfeel:
Rich thick creamy rich body, salty dry and slight bitterness keep the sweetness in check. Light fizzy carbonation, sweetness lingers in the aftertaste, very pleasant. 4.75

    Overall:
An incredible stout, bold flavorful, full rich aroma and body. Spiteful is Chicago’s most underrated brewery, pound for pound the strongest IMO. Will always order this when I see this in the future. 4.75

Fantastic story and awesome timeframe to enjoy it! We made a few similar trips from Grand Rapids to the Ft Myers area. Then eventually when I was 12 my dad, a minister ( I know, hard to believe) transfered down to Edison Congregational Church and I've lived in FL, except military years every since. Cheers!!

Oh it messes with your processing speed alright. But it's a welcome add-on.
