Good day BAs! It's another cool, blahh morning here on the tundra of NW PA, although the weather guessers suggest there may be a bright light in the skies later today - good thing they said there might so I'll be prepared and be worshipful rather than alarmed. Today's New Breakfast Beer (after a two day hiatus for OP procedure) is one I had great hopes for, both because of the brewer and its being my 2500 review:



Nasty - rating 3.3, rDev -25%.

This does peanut butter water/cookie really well. Only yellow belly has done it better from what I can recall

Home from work and thirsty

Screw top bourbon and an Anderson Valley Old Fashioned. This beer nails the aroma and flavor of the drink closer than any other Old Fashioned tribute beer I've sampled. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I'd prefer the Bell's version every time even at nearly double the price.

JTS Brown can be had for $12 a bottle locally. That's bonded Heaven Hill bourbon. Possibly the best bang for the buck out there.




I'm probably rambling at this point, but congratulations to my early am drinking buddy @Shanex on the five years of quality posts & cheers all!

 

Liquor while I am still drinking coffee? Impressive, I applaud your devotion. Props to @Shanex of course as well!

 

So what was wrong with it? Bad bottle/batch?

I haven't had this beer in a while, with a 2020 label, to boot:

I took yesterday off from drinking, went to bed early and slept in this morning...and what a glorious day here - mid 50°s and sunny...will warm to low 70°s today. Usual chores done, had to wait on my breakfast beer to warm up from the mini fridge...

Courtesy of @basaywhat , “Nü Trolls Stout” an imperial pastry stout with peanuts, marshmallow and vanilla, a collaboration between Triptych Brewing, Savoy IL and Riverlands Brewing Company, St. Charles IL...sound good to me, let’s go!



Canned 6/19/20. After 75 minutes on the counter warming, poured at 55 degrees. Super fast fizzy reddish brown head disappeared immediately leaving no cap, ring, nor lacing; murky brown with grayish ruby edges; no legs. Nose is strong peanuts, with caramel right behind. Taste is peanuts, sweet caramel candy, dark chocolate, toasted marshmallows, roasted salted nuts; vanilla in the middle; nutty caramel Turtle-like candy finish. Fluffy medium full body; creamy feel; some warmth from 11.2%; minimal carbonation. Overall an amazing smell and taste of peanuts and caramel - just like a Snickers candy bar, but surprisingly not boozy nor cloying; as advertised, plenty of nutty nose and taste with a sidebar of marshmallow and vanilla; well done!
