I'm in a similar boat, I've cancelled 2 vacations already. I'm close to my limit. I hate working and not accruing, it's like giving back money. We are slated for an April Florida vacation, if we can get shots I think it's doable. Cheers to the working men.

Good afternoon, advocates. Getting into it with some Two Hearted as I prep for yet another fantasy baseball draft. Haha! Life is good. Peace...

Deschutes Brewing The Abyss 2013 Reserve. A beauty of a beer after shoveling a few inches of snow and walking the mutts. Nicely carbed, smells like cocoa and red wine. The taste is figs, dates, raisins, black licorice, molasses and some bourbon with a prominent oak finish. Super smooth and quite dry. Best after 08/16/14. They weren't joking.....damn these hold up extremely well! Sadly it's my last bottle of this vintage.

I’m about to miss an annual camping trip for the second year in a row after going for the previous 30. Two of the guys who normally attend just came down with COVID. I may go do some winter camping by myself just to get away like I did randomly in my bachelor days. Such is life.

My big errand for the day was to get to Total Wine before the snow got too heavy...

    And I did...
So happy with those three beers from my grab earlier in the week that they all warranted a full return... Hard to decide where to start... *it was the whiskey*

Westmalle's tripel is the best tripel - or should I say, the truest?
I *think* they did it first - at least in terms of appellation and production, and it happens to be my favorite*, although Tripel Karmeliet is a very close second, hence the glass...
Chimay would be my immediate #3 pick, but then I had to look up my other top tripels on the site, and it's kinda random - although La Fin Du Monde, a common top/fave tripel, comes in at #10 for me...

*Curieux is technically my top-scored tripel, and while it may not be as good a base tripel as Westmalle, Karmeliet, or Chimay, it is damn close, and the work they do with the bourbon barrel-aging elevates the beer, while also hitting a lot of personal marks for me...

Checked out the Redbreast 15 in the whiskey forum...
It's safe to say that Redbreast's 12 and 15 are very approachable, especially for bourbon fans - plus they do the whole boxed presentation, and there's a wee bird on the label...

I felt it disrespectful to Westmalle to keep using the Karmeliet glass, so my second pour went into a more traditional tulip glass...
Considered using a goblet, but it just didn't feel right for a tripel - goblets fit quads though - true, or imagined?

    Hey, birthday nods!

Yup, that's right, three good ones...

    John Travolta, 67...
I knew him from Welcome Back, Kotter, before his films...

    Pulp Fiction resurrected him...

One of my favorite scenes in Pulp Fiction...

Just the first :45 - gets me every time...

    Matt Dillon, 57...
Ageless, apparently - always cool as fuck (?) - in fact, I can't recall a Matt Dillon character I didn't think was cool - I'm sure there's an exception, but I couldn't name it...

And continuing the generational pop-culture icon theme...

    Molly Ringwald, 53...
Breakfast Club was "generationally iconic" lol - and in a couple of other films of hers I saw, she was likable enough - certainly a big deal back then...

While I've been posting, some of the music to my ears...

    Cheers...

My gf and I were just discussing the re-branding of Sculpin. Please let me know your thoughts when you decide to sip on this iconic WCIPA. Cheers!!!

Good day Advocates. I see the Eagles have traded Wentz to the Colts. Since Rivers retired the Colts needed a QB and after today...they still do.

Always nice to get a new Collective Arts IPA. This is #16 in their series of one offs. My first impression is that it’s more or less in the middle of the series, which still makes it very good. Cheers. [IMG]

I saw something interesting today on the web regarding Brady and his GOAT status at QB. Again, I truly believe he is the GOAT QB, but this rationale was solid. If I can find it again, I'll share it with my next post. Cheers, brother!

Aw, shucks, you know the answer to that - it was crazy awesome - but your post begs the question, is it a label change or a recipe change? It tasted great, but it's been so long and I don't drink IPAs the way I used to - does it taste different than it did 5 years ago? I'd imagine, of course it does - the plants (and water?) have changed, but did the recipe? Now I'm wondering if it was sweeter or plusher in a fruity way... Perception or reality?
You know I'll post it when I'm drinking it again - maybe sooner than you think... lol

Avengers Endgame and breakfast-for-dinner with the wife ahead...

    Cheers...

From what I understand, it's only a label redesign. However, I do wonder with the OG owners coming on board with Kings & Convicts, will Sculpin start to taste like what it did when it was available in 22oz bombers. Ah, the memories...
