You could add a side-by-side of them in that thread, if you'd like. I might actually do that at some point.

I think (from memory) Bigfoot is bolder in both malt and definitely hops. I think Colossal X has a more subdued malt profile than I expected on first sip. As I got into it, I started enjoying it a bit more.

Then again, I've become somewhat of a Port City fan boy, so I will offer my opinion with a grain of salt. That said, I'm thinking this will likely get a high 3 to right at 4 rating once I get to reviewing it.

Edit: oh, and a light sip of the Elijah Craig followed by a sip of the Port City is really working for me right now - brings an herbal to evergreen note out of the beer.

[IMG] Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 2/15/2021. Pours a hazy yellow orange with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves thin webs of lace with excellent retention. 4.5

Aroma is mango, ripe melon, passionfruit, buttery Chardonnay from the Nelson hops, and apricot. 4.5

Taste follows mango, cantaloupe, passionfruit, a hint of yellow grapes, and apricot really well balanced and low on bitterness. 4.5

Mouthfeel is above average, soft gentle carbonation, not sticky but maybe a little dry, and at 7.8% ABV extremely easy drinking. 4.5

Overall this one is really tasty, the hops all play well together and @TheIPAHunter did I mention Nelson. Excellent stuff. 4.5

When the Bird Flies Away the Sky Flies Away. Nice DIPA from Cloudwater.
Last year we were planning a small BA NW Europe meetup at their taproom in Manchester. That turned out a no go for obvious reasons. Looking forward to any time in the future that we'll get there.
    Cheers!

Anchorage Brewing Co. -- The Mage (IPA - New England)

Pale yellow body, cloudy; dense and creamy white head; huge patches of foam coat the glass. A little musty with the smell; old tropical fruit; touch of lemon and pineapple; biscuit-like scent. Gentle tanginess with the initial sip; lime and diluted lemon; grapefruit; very mild cereal grain flavor. Medium body; lightly acidic; gently soft.

After reading the can for the hops used, I see Anchorage also used lime zest for this one. I believe it came out well as the lime comes across balanced and nuanced. Anchorage never seems to print packaging dates on their cans, so I'm not sure how old the beer is, but it does come across as refreshing and pleasurable.

... @champ103 -- since you like this Sam Rivers, you should really look into the recent NoBusiness Records release of his free jazz concerts in the 70s...personally, I like 'Braids' and 'Zenith'...both follow the same general concert pattern...the two CDs I like feature Joe Daley on tuba/euphonium to carry the bottom end...some very intense, very melodic, and simply beautiful playing...

Super light and watery. Smooth, crisp, inoffensive @ 99 calories & 3.4% abv. Probably would prefer it more on a hot day in August, either grillin' or after mowing.

Afternoon Advocates and wishing the best for the grandma of @Shanex. Feeling like ten miles of bad road myself today. Just pushing the exercise very hard and crashed a bit today. Sore, tired and dragging my ass about two inches off the ground. A few beers will hopefully help. Collective Arts Raspberry Dry Hopped Sour to Start. Cheers. [IMG]

    “Session” Helles.

    paging @JackHorzempa

leinenkugels attempt to market the word Helles which has been trendy these past months in order to sell a low cal beer? A 4.7% ABV is still sessionable. I know it’s all subjective.

    I’d still 100% drink it.

Captain Lawrence Powder Dreams is up now. It's a very specific beer. There are like twenty of them on BA depending on the hop bill. This is a NEIPA dry hopped with mosaic, lupulin powder, cascade, centennial and Zeus hops. I'm only the 2nd to review it and I rated it 3.90 which is way below the other guy who rated it 4.37.

Prairie Artisan Ales -- Mocha Noir (bourbon barrel aged stout w/coffee)

    4.17/5 rDev -3%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Tar black body; head is fizzy and sparse. Beautiful, heady aroma combining cocoa, whiskey, and a trace of coffee; charred grain. Big taste combination of milk and bitter chocolate; dark sweetness espresso; whiskey. Heavy body; slightly oily; fine, smooth texture coats the tongue; warm and boozy.

This is a fine bourbon barrel-aged stout. It's warm and almost gritty in a sense. The coffee presence is rather tame but still adds some nice complexity to the beer. The beer exudes richness and bold flavors and warms the belly nicely.

...this seems like a nice heavy-duty beer to ease into an afternoon of meat smoking...got some locally made fresh brats and Italian sausage smoking over hickory at the moment...have some locally cut pork chops and then a bone-in ribeye on the slate...the rib eye will be for supper...Mrs. BeerGoot will do some oven roasted veggies to go with it...the other meats will be vacuum packed and froze or else stored in the fridge for consumption in the near future...
