Back at the hotel drinking fairly local - Cushwa Brewing Co., Williamsport MD, “Force of Perception” a NE DIPA style brewed with Talus and Citra hops:



I think the beer is dull, earthy and skunky with just enough citrus to keep the conversation going...when in Maryland I gotta try MD beers...I would not seek out again...Cheers fellow seekers!

An IPA brewed by Triple Crossing. I bought a four pack two weeks ago. Liked it so much that I bought another four pack two days ago. I never thought I would be a Nelson hop fan.

Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is Battle Beers!

1) Peter's Brand Classic Lager (5.0%): A clean and yeasty European Lager with authentic German grain malts. Pale, yeasty, and German barley.
versus
2) Paulaner Original Munich Lager (4.9%): The gold-standard for a German Helles Lager. True and earthy Bavarian honey, bread, and lemongrass flavors. Less carbonation. Drinks malty and smooth.


3) Sierra Nevada's Hazy Little Thing (6.7%): Becoming a staple in the macro haze game, this hazy west-coast IPA has strong airy & juicy citrus and pineapple flavors. Showcases the citra hop well.

4) Oskar Blues Can-O-Bliss Resinous IPA (7.2%): A release from Oskar Blues that uses west-coast hops in an east-coast fashion. An upfront resinous & juicy orange juice flavor with a soft mouthfeel, but a respectable piney bitterness.


5) Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter (6.0%): A standard midwestern American porter from Great Lakes based upon the shipwrecked Edmund Fitzgerald. It has incredibly balanced chocolate with airy roast flavors.

6) Left Hand Brewery's Death Before Disco (6.0%): A porter from Left Hand in Colorado. This one has deep and rich chocolate flavors with dark berry flavors. Leans malty.

Winners:
2) Paulaner Original Munich Lager: This one is the gold standard for a German Helles. Incredibly smooth and balanced flavors of earthy German malts and honey.

3) Sierra Nevada's Hazy Little Thing: This beer has grown on me. For a macro-hazy IPA it's quite good. It's not going to beat a local dry-hopped hazy bomb, but for a macro NEIPA, this one is emerging as one of my favorites

5) Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter: It has such a nice balanced profile of cocoa powder, airy espresso roast, and lactose cream, while finishing dry.

Losers:
None. All of the beers were respectable and enjoyable tonight.
