In high school I was one of the marching band leaders. We would always come up with new ideas for our shows. Some would stick, others wouldn't. The best ones we did were Phantom of the Opera one year (an abridged version of coarse), the next was the entire second half of Bookends. We transposed the music, worked with the drum line, and made a kick ass drum break from Fakin' It. Mostly my influence on this, cause even in high school in the 90's I was obsessed with the album. We also tried Hush at one point, but we bit off a little more than we could chew there. That became a staple for the pep band shows though, as we didn't have to play and march at the same time ha, and our band director was more hands on there, he always wanted us to do our own thing with the marching band if we could pull it off anyway.

I am drinking some Blackhorse Brewery IPA, and listening to my original Japanese pressing of "A New World Record" by ELO (the Electric Light Orchestra). Baby, my little feline tuxedo girl is listening to "Livin' Thing" with me in the sweet spot between the two Dynaco A-25 loudspeakers in my bedroom.

Best marching band song I ever heard was the unmistakable Lawyers, Guns and Money by Warren Zevon. Was fabulous.

A marching band version of Deep Purple's 'Hush'...!?!

Oh, yeah, I would like to know (i.e., hear) what some of that may have sounded like...I can imagine the potential in that...

Namaste my friends. Yours truly transitioned to wine a few hours ago.

I don't think we played a show with it, just lots of practice. We couldn't hit our spots on the field and musical cues at the same time at all. We could play the hell out of it when not marching, so we decided to destroy the basketball court with it while playing pep band ha.

Drinking some Mickey's Fine Malt Liquor, and listening to my EMI/UK Stateside LP of "Hits Of Gold" by The Mamas & The Papas. A USA Soldier, Sailor, or Marine bought this new overseas, and bought this at the AAFES Post Exchange. A tribute to our Military Veterans, past, and those who serve today. I salute you!!!

Great mix Larry. That Ludwig Brick snare I have has a really solid sound. You and Kevin killed it. I done got tuckered out there at the end. I just remember I was sweating quite a bit by then. Cheers brother!

...re: @LarryV...I have a cheesy open tuning original jam I wrote that I will post as soon as I recall how to make a YouTube music video...it was based on a (relative tuning) open-D rhythmic pattern I came up with...my friend Rick played the rhythm on a warped neck, no name acoustic while I doodled with a lead pattern and slide attempt also in the relative tuning...some interesting stuff in parts...it won't happen tonight, but since I have a digital version of this amusing (if somewhat annoying) amateur night excursion...it will be posted soon enough...

...re: @champ103...of course I had to Google marching band 'Hush' examples...found a decent rendition from the University of Oklahoma...

Spindletap Faded, canned on 3/26/2021. Not my favorite NE IPA from them but I wasn't aware they only used Mosaic hops on this one. Pretty good.
