Beer three as I await the Premier’s delayed announcement of new restrictions. Things are leaking out, however, and the next while looks pretty grim in terms of what can and can’t be done.

Yet another very good Ontario IPA. Boneshaker from Amsterdam Brewing in Toronto. Cheers.

2014 BIGFOOT

 

2nd Covid-19 shot today. Relaxing on the deck with a Triptych L33T Wheat Ale. Kind of on a Triptych binge right now, every beer has been outstanding. Steve Winwood grooving in the background.

 

A short pour for the road - JWB’s “No Aspirations To Quit The Game”, an imperial stout with cocoa nibs, vanilla, walnuts and lactose...brewed for Hawthorne Bottle Shoppe!



Chocolate fudge nose/taste. Creamy lactose feel. Not too sweet. I like!

 

Saddling up to the bar a little early today. I've only got a couple of these left, but seemed like perfect day to enjoy a Barrel Aged Pilsner. The base beer is a Kellerbier/Zwickelbier. I rally like this because it's low in ABV compared to BBA stouts and the pilsner allows the barrel flavors to shine. Well crafted beer from Akademia BC in Athens, GA. Cheers BA's!

Anchor Porter a brew I may have had many years ago in California but I'm not sure. Anyway finding it on a shelf in NJ this morning was a shock. Excellent brew by any standard.

I'm not a big IPA drinker, but that New Realm Hazy Like A Fox is one of the better "hazy" IPA's down here in Atlanta. Mitch Steele rocks!

At the brewery for release day, starting with a special pour of a special blend to celebrate WBAYDN 3100 to start the day.

Sanctuary #24: Double Barrel Deth Jacket



Brewer Notes: After roughly four-and-a-half years in a series of premium bourbon barrels this blend of Deth's Tar and Straight Jacket is equal parts decadent curiosity and ass whoopin'. Dark chocolate mousse, maple, toffee, caramel, vanilla, and a boatload of lumber lay siege to the palate as well as your wits without so much as a suggestion of regard for your plans. This is what you're doing for the next little while -- enjoy it.

Appearance: 5 oz pour into taster glass, pitch black poured to the rim, faint carbonated ring around the rim. 4.25

Aroma: Very smooth bourbon aroma, almost a pure shot. Light fruit backing. 4.5

Taste: This is a most excellent blend, Deth Tar and Straightjacket playing well off each other. That said, the barrel on this is s coming through crystal clear and it’s remarkable. I can’t recall a stringer smooth and excellent bourbon barrel aged taste. Exceptional. Maple and toffee into the pour, did not detect the vanilla in the brewer notes. I’m getting more of this. 5.0

Mouthfeel: Sticky creamy syrupy. Thin body, no carbonation, more balanced than the taste profile would lead. The 18% ABV is fast and unrelenting. Be prepared for a nice ride. 4.5

Overall: Another exceptional barrel blend by the Masters of The Barrel. Cheers Marty and Team! 4.75
