@TheIPAHunter, Sammy knew when love walked in. It was when I saw your sister. I will never forget how I failed her. And you.

prepping for the Mrs.'s B-day celebration. I need more than a mere 5 or 9%ABV to get me thru tonite. This Backwoods Bastard barrel-aged scotch ale does the trick nicely at 11% and dang....I DO like it a lot. The aging makes the difference. [IMG]

It isn't "tongue-ripping", but in my case, I detect a fairly strong bitterness factor, especially as the beer warms up...

You didn't fail me, or her, for that matter. I will love you for life. Truth be told, she probably feels the same way.

Good evening everyone. Starting with a Jammy Pants - tart ale with boysenberry, marionberry, and blueberry. Pretty incredible stuff. Cheers!

Been drinking this since like 5:30 lol - and there's still a bit left in the bottle...

Grimm's Memory Palace, imperial stout with coconut, chili, and cardamom; 12% abv...

A real sipper obviously - great flavors and a rich feel - the chili is not particularly hot - just adds a bit of tingle, but its mostly nestled in the chocolates... Coconut is mild - adds just a suggestion of milkiness and maybe almond... Favorite part is the cardamom, which has a nice earthy, herbal, rustic note - a sweet stout, full-bodied and a bit syrupy and sticky...

    Music to my ears...

    Cheers...

Time for a classic HB Hefe. Man cannot live on Craft beers alone.

Cheers to all the BAs out there.

Always a good choice! Upon reflection of @Blogjackets comment yesterday, I agree that aging Founders might very well be a mistake. Alternatively, I find that high ABV Dogfish Head offerings age very well...I’m looking at you WWS, Fort, Fruitful Fort...the Mackinac Fudge coffee KBS I had last night already showed signs of dropping off. New slogan, no charge...Founders: Fresher is better! Same goes for you BA Ten Fidy!

If you are talking about Live Oak's Brewing Weizenbock called Primus, then yes yes I agree...I have no opinion on the band (ducks out of the way  )

Wait, what? I’ve been surviving on craft beer for years. There’s an alternative? :stuck_out_tongue:

I don't like aging coffee beers that much, and can't think of any that I would want some age on. It just ends up tasting like old coffee grounds and green peppers after a while. Founders Backwoods Bastard ages really well though.

I have not listened to that one yet. I'll have to get on it. Enjoying this right now while working on some new (old) music on the guitar.
