Sipping the last beer is done. Rain started just before I decided upon an outside pic. Luckily it doesn’t take too long to press the shutter release button on the phone. The GF’s walk was interrupted, however.

Sierra Nevada Pale Bock, a hint to foreshadow a side-by-side I have brewing for the What’s the Difference? thread:

Earthy, light lemony water. Meh. I’ve ordered a flight as I’m not going to finish 1/2 of my pint. Cheers from Johnson City TN!

One of WA state's early microbreweries was Hale's Ales. Their Seattle brewery/restaurant has seen hard times with Seattle's $15/hr wage mandate that curtailed the restaurant part, and then Covid-19 which gutted food service. For now they serve only beer and a few entrees.

The crazy Ballard area craft brewery scene (Fremont, Reubens, Lucky Envelope, etc.) has reduced this pioneer to mid-pack or lower.
But their pilsner is awesome and the hazy IPA is great. Ironic that their original brew Hale's Pale Ale is not on the menu these days.

They plan to restart the full restaurant when covid restrictions are lifted next month.

Moving on to the flight - Easy (AAL), Cerveza (Mexican Lager), Eighty (Scottish Ale), and Dunkel:

I let them warm a bit while I nursed the Pale Ale (I drank less than 1/2). Down and dirty overall scores for each were 3.25, 3.5, 3.25, and 3.5. I also tasted the IPA, which, for me, was undrinkable…what a difference a day makes - in Asheville I drank excellent beer all day long at 3 different breweries; today, not so much…and yet I keep hitting the beer trail! Cheers y’all!

Here are two examples of collaborations being lesser than the sum of their parts. This beer and this song. Quality for sure, but each brewery, and each artist, have set a bar so high on their own, that expectations for a collaborative work of art are probably unreasonable.
