I split the last beer, but I swear I had less sips. What is going on here? I may have to reevaluate the company I keep. What's love? King Julius from Tree House. Peace...

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: (Correctly matched each beer in 2 out of the 3 pairs)

    1) Blue Moon's Belgian White (5.4%): A Belgian-style witbier from Colorado with a sweet orange twist. Some white citrus spice. Sweetly orange and Americanized.
    versus
    2) Stone Dayfall (5.5%): This witbier from California has a hoppy orange profile upfront with classic Belgian spices and bergamot flavors. A wheat body.
(mismatched these two in the blind taste test)

    3) Summit Extra Pale Ale (5.5%): An English Pale Ale from Minnesota that has orange citrus, pine, soap, and earthy caramel flavors. Smooth and well-balanced.
    versus
    4) Morland Brewery Old Speckled Hen (5.0%): An English Pale Ale from England that has cinnamon, cedar, and sour flavors. Authentic and malty, but drinks slightly flat.

    5) Surly's Axe Man IPA (7.2%): A dry-hopped Citra and Mosaic IPA from Minnesota. Juicy, somewhat hazy, but has a dry, and bitter finish.
    versus
    6) Toppling Goliath's King Sue (7.8%): A hazy IPA from Iowas since 2014 that is brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Stone Dayfall:
This is an impressive Belgian White ale. Competes with Blue Moon and beats it in my opinion. The bergamot is a nice addition.

    3) Summit Extra Pale Ale: This is a hidden gem of an English Pale Ale held by our bretheren up north. Flavorful, incredibly drinkable, and dynamic. The Old Speckled Hen tasted sour and somewhat flat to me. A little too much cola flavor too, but wasn't terrible.

    5) Surly's Axe Man IPA: Always hard to compare two world-class IPAs that are different. I think this is a more dynamic IPA with a dry-hopped juicy component, but also a strong pine bitterness to balance. It makes you think NEIPA upfront, but comes around full circle for a complete IPA. The King Sue is slightly too cloyingly sweet and I think the Pseudo Sue might be a better fit.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Stone Dayfall and what did you think?
Have you tried Summit Extra Pale Ale, and do you have a favorite English Pale Ale?
Do you prefer Surly's Axe Man or Toppling Goliath's King Sue? Is Pseudo Sue a better alternative?

Went to review this beer and found it under "retired". Clearly not the case as the canned on date on the bottom of the can is 6/11/21.

Hop Butcher Neon Green Relish DIPA (Citra/Sabro). Top 3 Hop Butcher DIPA for me and this batch is as good as ever. People hate on Sabro and, believe me, I get it. That suntan lotion coconut thing can be terrible. But it just works here with the Citra and that artificial coconut thing is more complementary and not forward. Orange and lime sorbet, pineapple juice, creamy coconut, ripe tangelo, ripe papaya, floral, candied orange peel, cedar, very light sweet pine, vanilla wafer. Super soft and creamy. Daaamn.

A rare Wednesday beer for me as I decompress after closing 3 transactions over the last 2 days. Knucklehead Hall of Fame, a DIPA, at Untied Brewing. It may be the best beer Untied’s brewed although there’s a bit more yeast burn in this batch. Cheers from sweltering North Jersey!

I guess I'm on a Julius kick, but I swear that it was not intentional. I was going to start with OG Julius to be exact. So, here I am now with the motherf*ckin' Emperor. Not Palpatine, but Emperor Julius. Hell yesss, advocates. Let's get... nevermind. I love you.

What did you think of this one? I had one of mine the other night and was disappointed. A little too hot and “intense” for me. It’s basically a TIPA and I don’t really enjoy that style, so it’s probably just me

Good day Chicagoj!!! Thanks for opening up shop for today's thread!
2 more of these Fernson's left so I gotta rate it. It's a 4 for sure. Mission accomplished for it's style.
It's really good and I'd dig having it on tap.
Had a great 6.5 mile run today although it was kinda hot however my distraction was perfect: What beer will I free from my Stubejail? Hmmmm :sunglasses::laughing:
The song link features the late great Tony Thompson on drums. I love the 2/4 bar turnarounds in this tune!
    Keep on smiling! Cheers!
