    Sampling another brew from my recent trip to PA. Ill do something from New England tomorrow to balance things out a bit! Picked this up at a beer shop on a whim, so lets see what we got!

    Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Canned on date is 12/4/2020, I think , it is barely legible on bottom of the can.
    The beer pours a fluffy and fast growing tan head that overflows my snifter even with the gentlest of pours. I barely get half the can into my 22oz glass! The color on the beer is dark black coffee with no light passing through the glass.
    Aroma is roasted malt, bakers chocolate and charred wood. No hop character and the booze is hidden completely at this point. Speaking of booze, my can says 9.0% not 9.7% listed on site.
    The first sip reveals a soft and smooth textured body with spacious and soft carbonation. The flavor is similar to the nose. Lots of roasted malt notes and dark chocolate up front. A little brown sugar and raisin note comes through and then the finish is molasses and charred wood. Again, no hops and also well hidden booze. QUite a nice imperial stout with no adjuncts. Worth a grab if this style is your thing.

    I'll forth these sentiments, great brewery, especially to visit. And their lagers/pilsners are fantastic, extra hudos for that.

    First time at the actual brewery. First draft was an excellent pour of their Czech pilsner using lukr faucet. This one is an Italian pilsner, and a West coast IPA for my wife. This is by far my favorite brewery in Brooklyn.

    This is a well done RIS. More focused on being a stout than the barrel or the cherries. I am enjoying the delicacy of the composition, with a mellow afternoon. My only regret is that this would be amazing on a cloudless night with a fire crackling at my feet. And that can be easily remedied.

    If you have chance to be in the Rochester, NY area, this brewer is well worth a visit. His Saisons are particularly tasty.

    I still find it highly ironic that Finback's self appointed "vibes" ambassador is the one that was bringing the bad vibes, but they do make some great IPAs.

    Oh yeah. I was getting regular deliveries from them during the early days of the pandemic when I didn't want to leave my house. Whale watching and High Low were 2 of my favorite hoppy beers of 2020.

    Damn!! 7 hour drive. Fuck you, Connecticut. Lol. Man, thick mango orange juice. Delicious and much deserved.

    Most importantly, my daughter and her dance team placed 1st, yep 1st, in her division and type of dance. We couldn’t be prouder.
