True like alot of "game". Always try to get the 80/20 for burgers so theres some fat. Usually 90/10 is whats available for the most part. Marination is the way to go for steaks really. I like garlic, evoo, red wine, a bit of lemon juice and soy and juniper berries.

Lol went to the movie theater for that one at 12 years old , which is the most impressionable age for movies (see Star Wars)

I am no expert. I cut mine way back each fall then they leaf out again in early spring and grow about 8 ft in every direction and produce grapes. I root the cuttings in good soil and give containers of new vines to friends. 2 yrs later they have grapes too.

It’s a locust tree which provides a lush canopy over our deck all summer: paradise! On the flip side it’s messy as hell till about Fourth of July. All is forgiven by July!

I appreciate the input. It’s definitely on my list to try growing them some day. So many steps to getting the back usable first, but we’re making progress. More burning soon, then more grading, then seeding, then really getting the growing going!

Nice! We cut a few (black, not honey, we think) locust that were too close to the house, but we have one about 10’ coming in lower on the hill and another 3’ sapling from the felled root system that I’ll try transplanting later this year, or maybe next spring. We kept all the wood for the fireplace…about 2.5 years and it’s only now really getting dried. Big spikes on those little ones!

Finished last night’s, and cracked another, Marlowe Black Jinx. It’s very good, albeit right on the closest line to being too sweet. They have a Pappy Van Winkle barrel aged version in the works. I’ve never had PVW, but I imagine any barrel aging would probably make this a dark horse winner.

Ours towers above our house (2 stories) and is a deck length away from the house, still we get a tree service every 2 years to cut it back, maintain balance , keep it that friend in good condition

@champ103 You might end up giving that album a teensy bit of affection when you consider the backstory behind its creation. I have never listened to any of Young's albums in that period (including this one), but I always got a kick out of it's story. The story goes that when Young signed with Geffen, they gave him creative control of his work. But after his "electronic" Trans album failed to do well and Young wanted to release a country album, Geffen demanded that Young make a "rock & roll" album instead... so he made this one. Geffen released the album but sued Young for making records that were uncharacteristic for Neil Young. Geffen later dropped the suit and apologized. Like I said, I never even listened to the album, but the story really shines a new light on the choice to do it. They asked for "rock & roll" and he defiantly delivered exactly that.

My first time reviewing Knotted Root from Nederland, CO. This is Perpetually Unimpressed. Appropriately named, as I am not impressed. It has a harshly unpleasant menthol/hop burn sting on the finish. Yick.
