Surly Double Vanilla Rye BA Darkness Imperial Stout, 12% ABV. World-class, mostly due to the fancy-azz box. Still holding out hope that the regular BA Darkness comes in 16oz cans next year instead of 750ml bottles, more bite-size.

I felt like jamming tonight and since there's nobody to jam with, I jammed with myself. I guess that's the equivalent of playing with myself .

 

Fremont HFoD, version 29 I think. Probably at least one version behind, but catching up. They are back on track with great releases after a few clunkers.

 

Spent a few hours late this afternoon catching up with a friend (and former boss) who I haven't seen in several years. I'm glad we still keep in touch, one of the best people I've ever worked for (in my healthcare industry years). Back home and enjoyin' this fridge turd!



No music...just enjoying the silence at the moment.

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: (All 3/3 pairs correctly matched blind)

1) Sierra Nevada’s Summer Break Session Hazy IPA (4.7%): A new summer release from Sierra Nevada to replaced their old Summerfest beer that has flavors of orange tangerine, tropical, and stonefruit flavors. Tropical and smooth.
versus
2) Sweetwater Better Days Kinda Sorta IPA (4.0%): A session IPA from Georgia with superfruit that has flavors of peach, papaya, and pink starburst. Mild body and crisp.

3) Summit Keller Pils (5.1%): A Kellerbier from Minnesota that has flavors of pale Munich malts, bread malts, and yeast. Dry and crisp with authentic Munich flavors.
versus
4) Fulton Blonde (4.8%): A blonde ale from Minnesota that has flavors of lemon, citrus, flower, and wheat. Sweet lemon and a malty finish.

5) Lagunitas Stereohopic V2 IPA (7.2%): An IPA from California brewed with Elixir and loral hops that has really dropped off the ledge since it came out. At only a few months old it drinks quite stale.

6) Lagunitas Super Cluster IPA (8.0%): A strong and juicy IPA from Lagunitas brewed with Citra that has strong and fruity flavors of orange, mandarin orange, and tropical fruit.

Winners:

2) Sweetwater Better Days Kinda Sorta IPA: A terrible name, but this one has smooth and juicy flavors of peach, papaya, and pink starburst. Fruity and clean for 100 calories. Better than any adjunct lagers or hard seltzers.

3) Summit Keller Pils: This is one of my favorite summer beers. Mild, but complex and authentic Munich malt flavors. I'd like to see this style brewed more often.

6) Lagunitas Super Cluster IPA: I think this can was actually older than the Stereohopic V2, but it drinks much better. The Stereohopic V2 became stale extremely quickly.

That was 1970 - our NCO's used to come out and catch us smoking weed behind the bomb shelter and they'd just say "when you're done ... ". They didn't give us a lot of crap about it. Fun times those days!

 

Bought a 12 pack today thinking son-in-law would want some. No gracias. Gotta drink it all myself I guess unless I can pawn some off to my other son-in-law.
