Yeah for the Pats it's advisable to get there at least 1/2 hour early.

However was pretty dead yesterday for the early games - sensing some COVID shyness in the community. Or maybe just a nice day and people had other plans (other than NFL opening Sunday - people should re-assess their priorities).

As @AlcahueteJ said, it's a great place to watch a bunch of games at once. Throw in the German Festbiers served in their branded glasses and better than usual pub grub, it's pretty much all I can ask for as a place to catch some games.

I strolled into Long Cross around 1 and there were plenty of bar seats, was fairly tame.

Walked over to Magoun's later that afternoon right when the Pats game started, and there were still bar seats available...unusual for a Pats game. I was at Magoun's the day before at 4 pm and I had to wait a couple minutes for two bar seats next to each other to open up.

Just from walking around I bet people were watching football but had outdoor set ups given how gorgeous the weather was. I went home after a couple beers and watched the game while outside as well.

Winter Hill Brewing's "Wurstfest" is Oct 2 from 12pm-8pm with WHBC Marzen and live music. Scott Bros BBQ is slinging the sausages so you know the food will be good. This is the same date at Somerville's Porchfest so it's gonna be a busy day in the neighborhood!

Winter Hill is also hosting beer gardens in Ball Square (100 Winchester St). on Sat, Sept 18 and Sat, Sept 25 from 12pm-8pm. Scott Bros BBQ, Tipping Cow Ice Cream, live music and a dog show(?)

Check their FB page for deets.

Definitely going October 2nd, that's on the list for sure.

The 18th is Bow Market Oktoberfest (it also might rain?) and Dorchester's Oktoberfest. And the 25th is insanely packed with Notch, Nightshift, and Lamplighter.

    So many Oktoberfests...so little time.

Shovel Town in Easton has a fantastic Oktoberfest on tap and available in cans now. They have an Oktoberfest event this coming weekend on Foxboro Green and then one in a few weeks at the brewery.

Yup saw that. Might do it. Each crate varied in beers slightly.

Ok, that's Bow Market, Dorchester and Schilling Oktoberfest Saturday.

Easy enough to navigate. Start at Bow, go to Dorchester, then back track towards Trillium.

Turtle Swamp in JP has a new fest beer. I didn’t love it. Not super drinkable for the style. Their fresh hopped marzen is coming out soon and I’ve liked that the past couple falls. Down the street from there Sam Adams has a barrel aged ocktoberfest on draft and there fest is next weekend.

Just saw that CBC Belmont has Grimm Festooning. That was one of my faves last year.

Not sure why I said Schilling in that post, meant Trillium.

I had so much fun going to all three Oktoberfests Saturday that I did it again on Sunday!

Also, Tilted Barn’s Oktoberfest (amber style) was on tap at Elm Street Tap Room in Davis. And Benediktiner’s was on tap at PJ Ryan’s.

I don’t think you’ll see those around most places so I thought I’d mention them.

Grabbed the Rothaus Eiszapfle and I was impressed. My favorite import Oktoberfest/Marzen so far. I’ll have to get more of this.

So, I was at Magoun's this past weekend. I ordered a Hofbrau...and it was amber.

They said it was definitely Hofbrau, and I looked at the menu and it described it as amber. Anyone who's been to Magoun's during Oktoberfest season knows that they do a good job of separating the pale and amber style descriptions on their menus.

In the Oktoberfest tasting thread one of the members posted that he found the Hofbrau amber Oktoberfest in the states for the first time. I checked their site and it said the closest place selling it was in CT.

Looks like it might have made it to Magouns!

Well, this calls for a visit to Magouns for football watching this Sunday.

I was at Magouns yesterday and I can confirm as well that Hofbrau was amber and very tasty. First time to Magouns and it was great! Kind of quiet but the Patriots stunk, you had great weather outside and Oktoberfests happening, so maybe that has to do with a less than half full crowd. I look forward to returning.

Ok cool, so it wasn't just me haha.

I was at the Sam Octoberfest, Tip Tap Room, and Lamplighter and they were all fairly empty (Sam's Octoberfest party being the most busy...but still fairly empty, they weren't showing the game).

I've been both to Long Cross and Magoun's this year for a game and it was not as crowded as usual. I think once the weather gets worse that'll change.

So, technically it's not their "Oktoberfest" offering (which is a pale Weisn style) but really their Amber Marzen brand?
