Some DDH bullsh*t from Other Half. Haha. Just kidding. I like Mosaic. And I love you all. Peace...

Before TheIPAHunter ever existed, I was teaching a Masters class in malt liquor. Those who know, know. BTW, that's me with the hat on backwards. Some things never change.

    12.68 ounce bottle.
    Bottled February, 2016.
    1st rated 4.21 on 03/11/2016.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 5/8 inch white head over a slightly hazy golden body with scant lacing and head is a thin cap after a few minutes.

Citrus on the nose immediately upon opening with slight floral/herbal aromas as it comes to the nose.

Taste is citrus at first, then white grape and a bit of oak.
Finish is tart and dry with white wine.

Nice feel and overall, same score as over 5 and a half years ago.
A great sour offering from San Jose, CA.

    Cheers!

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: (All 3 out of 3 pairs correctly matched blind)

    1) Bahaus Wheat Sweats (5.0%): A German-style hefeweizen that has flavors of traditional hefe bread spices with a balanced, light, and smooth finish
    versus
    2) Liftbridge FarmGirl (5.5%): Formerly a Saison, this pilsner from Minnesota has citrus and bready flavors. Yet, still getting mostly Belgian flavors on this one.

    3) Summit Oktoberfest (6.5%): An Oktoberfest from Minnesota withbready malts and a sweet caramel malt finish. Higher in the alcohol content.
    versus
    4) Sierra Nevada’s Oktoberfest 2021 (5.5%): An amber Marzen style from California with flavors of orange, pine soap, and caramel malts.

    5) Surly’s Invisible Rays IPA (6.8%): A summery NEIPA from Minnesota that has tropical flavors of pineapple and guava. Juicy and hazy.
    versus
    6) Terrapin Luau Krunkles IPA (6.5%): An IPA from Georgia with flavors of passionfruit, orange, and guava. Tropical and somewhat resinous.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Bahaus Wheat Sweats:
This hefeweizen has nice flavors of bread spice, yeast, and hints of bubblegum. Nice flavors, but the smooth and drinkable mouthfeel at 5% ABV is where this excels.

    4) Sierra Nevada's Oktoberfest:
Again, this one does not drink like a normal oktoberfest. Far more orange citrus soap and pine flavors typical of Sierra Nevada. Still better than a muted Oktoberfest and had far more flavor than Summit.

    6) Surly's Invisible Rays IPA:
This one has a nice juicy orange and pineapple flavor. One of the better summery NEIPAs I've had. Krunkles was good, but more tropical and suited for Hawaii.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Summit Oktoberfest and what did you think? Or Sierra Nevada?
Have you tried Terrapin Krunkles Luau IPA, what did you think?
Is it sacrilegious to drink Oktoberfests after October? I hope not, b/c there's a lot more to drink...

It's either about a city in Scotland or Paul Hogan as Crocodile Dundee. Long ago Australia had tons of British miscreants shipped to her shores to shelve them on a new continent and away from British shores. It could have been named Ned Kelly Triple hold-up IPA.

Blackstack Brewery -- DDH 755: Nelson (New England India pale ale)

    3.94/5 rDev -4.8%
    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Fine mostly cloudy, light yellow-orange body; lively carbonation; thick, white head, frothy and semi-creamy; decent rings and patches of foam step down the glass. Light, fresh citrus aroma combing elements of lemon and tangerine. The taste reinforces citrus-like elements with a noticeable presence of Nelson Sauvin character, light and partially dry white wine; little hop bitterness noted. Medium body with a light, dry tartness.

This is a nicely crafted double dry hopped India pale ale, balanced with a fine complexity.

Poured at 53 F; no canning date noted.

We had little Halloween turnout. Been that way for a number of years.

Wife is a retired public school teacher. Some of her former students are almost 50 years old! One has his own refuse service which we use. If he sees the wife he makes it a point to stop and say hello.

Holler Dollar Pils, classic staple around these parts for good reason  At one of my favorite bars in my neighborhood, Johnny's Gold Brick.

With steak night from some ultra hyped food chef of some sort, winning, or participating in, master chef something or whatever. It was definitely good, but I could have put back like 3 of these. I get its hyped and tons of people came to get it, but man I need some steak . Anyway, Johnny's is a regular stop for me as I can walk here...good for a regular dive to get something like this for hype.

Oh, they may be a dive but can still make some of the best cocktails around...with a classic Sidecar, if you know you know
