From yesterday, wanted to welcome @MrSandman101 to WBAYDN, and note your beer selection from yesterday remains one of my all time favorites! So much so, I'd serve it to Aliens!

Still catching up on the weekend thread, while enjoying this Imperial Stout from Wild Onion.

Wild Onion 2020 Almond Boy


Full review in New Beer Sunday #877! Bottom line, don't let the Dr. Pepper aroma fool you, this ain't no "boy" and the taste is on point with wonderful almonds, fudge and coconut providing an excellent complement to a smooth and enjoyable bourbon barrel.

There was a discussion regarding bands from 1980 yesterday which omitted arguably the hands down biggest most ubiquitous band powering through with their widely successful late 1979 release.



There was one concert I really wanted to attend, though the ticket entry forms were released the day John Henry Bonham tragically passed.



I don't think I would have gotten permission to go as an 11 year old even if I scored these tickets. I do cherish the one "concert" I was able to attend that year, also the first R rated movie I was allowed to attend.

 

If I wind up having two beers then Bud wins.

That’s a good bar bet song. Which band originally played the Green Manalishi? Not Judas Priest. Fleetwood Mac. Won a few beers for that useless trivia bit.

 

Wow man! My dad was gonna drive me up to Chicago with 3 other drummer friends to see that show and one buddy called me and told me that Bonham died. I was 15 and immediately ran to my drums and played thru the album In Through The Out Door like 3 times. That's three 15s. I was devastated. Cheers! Time for some Zep!

So my father-in-law comes back from his hunting trip in NW PA with a few crowlers from a totally new (to me) brewery. This is a straight up old school IPA with lots of piney bite on the back end. The brewery is housed in a former bank and the names of some of their beers are pretty funny: Overdraft IPA (what I'm drinking now), The Stake-Out (IPA), The Heist (IPA), The Get-Away (D-IPA), The Vault (IPA), Compound Interest (Amber Ale), Pick Pocket (Blonde Ale), and this one is priceless: "Russian Dossier Imperial Stout". LMBO! With the theme going on the names it reminds me of Taxman Brewing who does a similar thing.

Smuttynose Wood Chop chocolate stout, 6.5%, a delicious chocolatey treat that has a nice Swiss Miss cocoa flavor and a creamy smooth mouthfeel! Unbeatable for $16 a 12-pack!

When we were around 12 years old we used to rip open the packet of Swiss Miss and sprinkle it on the fire to make a big WOOF! Ah, those were the days. Enjoy!
