Today started to be reasonably productive, then I started watching Raiders-Chiefs. And the other game we get is Panthers- Falcons. Switched to women's basketball at 3:00 pm.

I remember the first time having Citra. I had to win a lottery, and drove 4 hrs each way to Kern. While, that was a great experience with my good friend. Driving 15 min to my local shop is much better. And it’s still super tasty!

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup has some variety! (All 3 out of 3 pairs correctly matched blind)

    1) Spaten Lager (5.2%): A German Helles lager with smooth flavors of earthy bread, yeast, and light lemon flavors. Slightly light-struck and earthy.
    versus
    2) Paulaner Helles (4.9%): An authentic German Helles lager with smooth bready malts and honey flavors.

    3) Sierra Nevada’s Celebration Ale (6.8%): A Fresh-hop holiday IPA from California that has flavors of red grapefruit citrus with spicy pine and caramel malts. Spiced and malted.
    versus
    4) Lagunitas Contents Under Fresher (7.7%): A fresh-hop IPA from California that has flavors of pineapple, pine, and grass. A classic and sweet Lagunitas yeast and malt finish.

    5) New Glarus Dancing Man Wheat (7.2%): An imperial hefeweizen-style ale from Wisconsin that has flavors of wheat, bananas, clove, cinnamon.
    versus
    6) Boulevard Tank 7 (8.5%): A Farmhouse Ale from Kansas City that has flavors of juicy fruit, pear, yeast, before a pale malt finish. Slightly sour astringency, but bold and sweet.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Paulaner Helles:
Both are fantastic, but this one has the advantage of not being in a bottle and light-struck. Allows the breadiness to be the showcase here. Flavorful and bready.

    4) Lagunitas Contents Under Fresher
: This one had much more juiciness, pineapple, and sweetness. Less pine, spice, and caramel. Two very different fresh hop IPAs. More hoppiness and flavor than Celebration so it squeaks out the win.

    6) Boulevard Tank 7: This is a one of a kind beer. The true Saison or Farmhouse ale. Classic flavors but with enough body and sweetness for the colder weather.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you tried Lagunitas Contents Under Fresher and what did you think for a fresh hop IPA? Did you think it was better than Sierra Nevada's Celebration?
Have you tried New Glarus Dancing Man Wheat or Boulevard Tank 7, and do you prefer the Hefe or the Saison?

Drinking Cigar City Jai Alai. I usually pass this by because it's either too old or the
package is undated. This example is from 10/04/21 and it's quite good. The last time
I drank this IPA it must have been old or from a bad batch, because I characterized it
as way over rated. I would now say it's a better than average IPA.

It's nighttime in ND? I can see how that would be confusing. Clearly evident by your stacking, as well as your winners. You're on top of things! Per the norm. Much love...

A special beer in celebration of a very special event, my wedding last evening. Everything was perfect, truly more than I ever could have asked for. And much more importantly, my new wife felt the same way, so I’ll cheers to that!

A: Opaque black, small sliver of tan head, dissipates pretty quickly, minimal lacing. 4.25

S: Aroma is interesting, more dark fruits than I anticipated, rich ripe red fruits, almost a bit tart. Some base beer roasted malt on the back end, surprisingly barrel notes aren’t prominent at all, just some whiskey like fusel ethanol. 4

T: Taste is much better than the aroma, way more complex. A medley of barrel characters, tons of charred oak, rich dark chocolate, somewhat hot but also nicely balancing boozy notes. Dark fruits are also present, mostly up front. A lovely lingering nutty, earthy bourbon character that hangs around forever. 4.75

M/D: Full bodied, actually a bit hot which I don’t usually get from Bourbon County Brand Stout or it’s variants. Although in fairness it does have a higher ABV than most. Even so, it remains reasonably drinkable. 4.25

O: Overall, this is an exceptional beer. In the upper half, but not in the top tier, of my favorite BCB stout variants. 4.5
