What beer are you drinking now? #3357

Junior just rolled downstairs after 11. Oh to be young, on winter break, and have nothing to do. I’m on to numero dos.

 

Tastes like I'm drinking a dry white wine that someone spilled a bit of lambic into. Starfruit and lychee, the ghost of the usual Tilquin funk. Tasty.

 

The previous Schell's brew was/is heavenly and is a grand slam from them so I'll move in the same direction with this home run: Schell's Snowstorm Oat Starkbier.
This will hopefully give you a good laugh...I awoke from a dream early this morning with a smile and recalled why. I had brewed: Plinynkugel's The Elderberry Weissbier. A collaboration with All-Purpose Liquid Fence. Invented? Yes. Brewed? Never. Cheers!

 

I do love Schell's Firebrick. Should probably make a point of getting some of their other stuff more often. Perhaps organize a drive where I can fill up on New Glarus on the way.

Hit up New Ulm for Schell's styles (the B & L bar is a Schell's bar) and remember that New Glarus beers are not sold in MN. Cheers!!

 

Indeed, but as I'll scarcely be able to avoid driving through Wisconsin as I approach from the southeast, well, shucks and drat.

Since Hammerheart is closed, I suppose I do need a new suburban location to go have beer at near the Twin Cities.

 

I really like it. The tart cherry is very drinkable. I bought the gift pack and enjoyed every
beer. The bottle I'm drinking now has a best by date of 12/22 and the IPA was also fresh.
If my beverage center has more, I'll buy it.

 

A shame about Hammerheart. I never got to enjoy any of their stuff. Anyway, if you're not crunched for time on your journey, New Glarus, WI isn't far from Rockford, IL or Madison for that matter and from NG you could get on hywy 18 over to Prairie Du Chien then right up to Decorah, Iowa/ Toppling Goliath. Nobody likes their beers... Then you could slingshot NWest on 52 to Rochester then 14 to New Ulm which is 80 miles from MPLS. Cows. Lots of cows. I too am looking to plan a road trip to somewhere...Cheers!

 

It's funny, in the 90's my father used to do business up in Montreal and his clients always took him to a Belgian restaurant and they would send him home with big bottles of Chouffe Grand Cru, so I've been familiar with the brand for years. Probably the first Belgian beer I ever had

I've been fortunate, my drinking age corresponded with the micro brewery and brew pub era, so I've always had quality beer to drink. Imports were hit and miss because you never knew how old they were. I've actually never had Kwak btw.

 

I mean, if you're in a place that pours it in its special whalebone glass with the wooden handle-rack, that alone is worth a pour.
