    Good evening Advocates,
back from the first working Monday of the year, stop at a local pub before my way home...

Brauerei Krieger (GER) - WINTER ZWICKL - Festbier (5,4%)

Already from the appearance (light orange color) and from the scent (tart, honey) you understand that you are going to drink a "winter" beer
A Pils with a softer and sweeter malty part, compared to the taste of bread crust and a dry/light bitter finish.
Softness given by a hint of honey with a hint of caramel.
Foam, smoothness of the body and carbonation are from Pils, but the finish is certainly softer and with a much more hidden contribution of hops.

A loud, presumably fairly large branch fell from a pine tree behind the next neighborhood as I started shoveling. Made the clicking of branches around me sound more foreboding, but no further excitement as I mostly cleared out our spots.

Superdawg or Portillo's? I'm not comparing them, as I don't live in the Chi. I'm asking you, if you were starving, which spot is getting the call? Also, name a spot I haven't heard of that you would choose over either. I have plans to visit Chicago this year to see a friend. Haven't been there since '96.

Lancaster County. And damn if you aren't correct. Usually when I see it these days, it's not even remotely fresh.

Good day Advocates :beers::beers: and thanks once again @dcotom for todays thread! Always great to be here with all y'all!! Got my groovy 5 mile run in and decided to retire a pair of shoes. After 197 miles they've lost some qualities that I got 'em for. It's like I need to give 'em a Viking funeral...but they'll be okay for some power walks with Mrs. DeWitt this spring. Now enjoying a couple of Breckenridge Juice Drop Hazy IPAs in a basic glass. Really nice beer! Seems I can always depend on Colorado for high quality brews. Cheers folks! Keep on smiling!

Ha! My GF says I spoke too soon. While she was out fine tuning my half-assed clearing of snow from her car, a fairly large branch landed right in our neighbor’s spot next to mine. Glad they cut down two nearly dead large trees around our spots recently.

The background pic of my car's screen was taken at the filling station a year or two ago. 913.5 miles per tankful, pretty good, but not the best. My best was 1,896 mpt!!

This series is incredible. For my money, No. 6 is more hop saturated than 7. A master-class in brewing. Peace...

    Ok, now ready.
The last pint of Cumbre Project Dank, and the last of my "winter IPAs" here in the house.

    Cheers! Have a great day....

...age 65 finally caught up with me today...starting off the birthday beers with a gifted beer from former neighbors who now live in South Carolina...

    Sweetwater Brewing Co. -- IPA
    American India pale ale
6.3% ABV; pouring temperature: 52 °F; canning data: 03/31/22 (BIEB - best if enjoyed by)

    4.13/5 rDev +4.3%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4

Clear, dark amber body; excellent carbonation; thick, sculpted head, white and sticky; lacing weaves along the glass. Nice dank, pine-like aroma with a bit of citrus. Nicely balanced taste; unobtrusive malt backbone supporting a moderate, zesty hop bitterness; pine resin; light esters. Medium body; crisp and slightly prickly on the palate; semi-dry mouthfeel throughout.

A very nice American India pale ale, clean, crisp, balanced and tasty.
