Good morning BAs! Dogs walked and fed this steamy 70s morning…Kitchen cleaned…Coffee time - Backwoods Brewing’s “King Size” Candy Bar Stout:



Canned 12/20/21. Poured at 56°. The brewer implies that this beer tastes like a Snickers, brewed with cocoa nibs, peanuts and vanilla. Unfortunately it’s a weak, watery over-carbonated artificial tasting oatmeal stout from Tavour…

I tried drinking an Epic Big Bad Baptist 2017 bottle. Sadly, it was my first infected beer experience. Pulled out this replacement, and it was better, but it's not very good.

Full review in the New Beer Weekend #84 thread. Bottom line is I shouldn't have aged this, but don't think I would like it fresh.

And now for a proper coffee stout, something I already know I like - KBS Hazelnut:



Bottled 1/27/22. Poured at 57°. I really like this latest variant. The hazelnut shines and the coffee is strong. As per a few inquiries, no, nothing artificial am I getting here (in by best Yoda voice). A bit pricey at $26.99 a 4/pk, and same price here as the Espresso and the Cinnamon variants which are also on the shelves around town.

I’m easing into my quiet part of the morning…soon Mrs. Z will arise, and I’ll prepare brunch. Cheers and have a savory beer Saturday y’all!

Headed out for a little afternoon date with the wife. Moms got the kids. First time we’ve been alone together since mid December, before the baby came. You know I gotta have a beer in the passenger seat boys. Just my nature. Cheers.

 

On the way to cannibal my boy and I killed a 12 pack in the backseat and smoked out an entire pen that night. First night away from the baby in 8 months. Love them but I took advantage of being away. Even in the bathroom they knocking on the door lmao. Cheers.
