My brothers wedding is upcoming this weekend on Saturday. Which I’m the best man in and I’m looking forward to that!

However, unfortunately my wife’s grandfather passed away early Thursday morning. She’s gone ahead to VA today to attend the funeral tomorrow. And as always some family dynamics playing their role…

I’m heading up on Wednesday— I’ve got a crazy work schedule ahead and couldn’t get off until then.

Tonight, I am going to watch some NBA and cook myself and Petal a steak and have a few beers. She took Athena with her so just her and I in the house.

This beer is for her grandpa. RIP George.

Sierra Nevada Powder Day IPA

 

Taking care of a couple things in the office while enjoying some of this:

Mini charcuterie board and a goofy foot juicy like busey. Julia got the goat cheese and flatbread crackers. Loved both.



Great hazy ipa. Lasting head retention abs soapy lacing. Aromas and flavors of red grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pear, passionfruit, watermelon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, wheat, bread dough, herbal, floral, grass, yeast earthiness. Light-med bitterness. Creamy bready malts. Some sticky hops and light resins lingering and drying the finish. Nicely soft feel. Minimal hop burn or abv warmth. Great Simcoe, El dorado, Columbus, Amarillo profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/ earthy hops with a soft malt backbone. No complaints. 4

Oh my, construction still interrupting everything I do lately. Seriously, I live on a historically protected Boulevard, and one of the only true pedestrian friendly areas in Houston. For three weeks now, it has been ridiculous construction, which was not needed. They are just re paving the road. I get that needs to happen on occasion, but there are WAY worse roads this needs to happen first. Though apparently, just cause my neighborhood is historically protected, the city has to spend so much money on maintenance regardless. Well, after complete street shutdowns, the last few days have had many hours of power outages. Ugh.

Anyway, was able to get out today...

At Holler with a classic Dollar Pils.


Then a great Czech Dark Lager.


And over to a great restaurant for a Gin Martini and Crab Remoulade.


Power seems to be on now for the rest of the night, need some tunes...

Lupulin Brewing CPB Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter

 

New Trail Back Cast DIPA. Excellent. This brewery is in Williamsport PA - not exactly ground zero for craft beer, but NT is putting Billport on the map.
New Trail consistently cranks out really good IPAs/DIPAs/NEIPAs week after week. Plus their corporate culture is totally dialed in to outdoorsy stuff, which is another reason I like to support them.
