Another beauty of a beer from @Blogjackets Columbus Brewing Bodhi. Cheers!

Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) Hacker Pschorr Muncher Hell (4.9%):
A German Helles that has flavors of authentic German bread malts, with a slightly earthy and toasty notes.
    versus
    2) Arcobräu Mooser Liesl (5.3%): A German Helles with flavors of sweet biscuit malt and honey. Hints of lemon. Slightly heavier.

    3) Ology Systemic Chaos IPA (7.0%): A NEIPA from Florida with flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and some sweet orange, pineapple, and mango juice. Juicy and leans sweet.
    versus
    4) Hop Butcher Oblong (7.5%): A NEIPA from Chicago with flavors of orange citrus, orange flower, tropical mango, and pineapple. A silky and smooth creamy finish.

    5) Earth Rider North Tower (6.0%): An oatmeal stout from Wisconsin with flavors of chocolate, oats, European cream. A clean and dry finish.
    versus
    6) Founders Porter (6.5%): A Porter from Michigan with flavors of chocolate, lactose, mocha, and a smooth, creamy finish.
(All 3 of 3 pairs correctly matched blind)
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) Hacker Pschorr Muncher Hell:
This one has slightly more earthy and authentically toasty German malts. Arcobräu had some sweet biscuit malts, but was quite plain.

    4) Hop Butcher Oblong:
Clearly top-notch haze here. Fantastic citrus flower and tropical flavors. An incredibly smooth and creamy body. I've heard good things from this brewery and this IPA does not disappoint.

    6) Founders Porter:
Nearly impossible to beat for it's style. It nails all of the qualities. Similar to North Tower, but more robust mocha and less latte flavor. Enjoyed both.

I really love this beer. Been waiting to savor it for some reason. Today I realized these bottles are 6-months old and no fresh ones will be issued until next season. Time to drink up!

I never see Gold around me in Houston anymore. Like everything Live Oak that is fantastic, I guess I can live with just one excellent Pilsner from them that is easily available

I'm excited to pop my first can of this year's batch of Ludlum Island Brewing's The Big Dirty. It's one of my favorite annually-released New Jersey DIPAs. Ludlam uses Simcoe, Mosaic, and Citra lupulin powder both in the boil and dry-hopping. It's big and fruity and has the subtlety of a 2x4 across the forehead. In short, my kind of beer!
