    Good evening Advocates,
this weekend there was the Franken Bier Fest in my part, in a beautiful historic park in Roma, Villa Torlonia.
I was there on Friday, on the opening night after two years of forced postponements, from just off work to closing.
I have seen that many of you are drinking Pils or other low fermentations German style... so you will miscuse if I have drawn up the usual papyrus to add two notes that I took in the drinking phase.
After two years of absence, I found fewer stands than I remembered, but still very high quality.
Since I arrived at 19:30, to avoid wasting time I printed the general tap list and highlighted the "first choices" in yellow and for each first choice I highlighted a "reserve" in green, in case it was not attached .

I started with a new beer for me, the HAUSBRAU by Brauhaus Seßlach (Sesslach). Very limited production, a splendid golden and delicate lager, with hints of light cereal, light herbaceous spice, dry but not at all bittering finish. Excellent alternative to my choices which were respectively the UNGESPUNDET by Spezial (the 50 L barrel already sold out when I arrived) and UR MARZEN by Knoblach (which, however, I have already drunk and every now and then I also find it attached). Great beer.

Then I moved on to a KELLER by Lieberth, also new to me. Beautiful, golden, genuinely abundant foam.
Practically a liquid bread, with light herbaceous notes but above all notes of durum wheat and breadcrumbs.
Then I followed with a ZWICKEL by Brauerei Scharpf, obviously new to me too, a lively Pils to which all the typical characteristics are added a truly appreciable sense of "crunchiness" and a pleasantly bitter finish, tending to grassy grass. fresh. Not very bitter, but certainly thicker than previous drinks.

Then I moved on to the smoky side where between the RAUCHBIER by Eichhorn Dörfleins and that of Ulrich Martin, I preferred the latter for gustatory intensity and balance, definitely the latter.
While the smoky note of Eichhorn Dörfleins' Raucbier was really too delicate and almost faded to a sweet note, I found that of Ulrich Martin a little more marked in the fundamental characteristics, with the smoky malts that were already much more flagrant on the nose . Impossible to drink just one. In general, the beer that impressed me the most in all the ones I tasted at the Festival. An incredible balance and succulence.

I ended my evening (tired but happy) with a pair of Dunkels: that of Zum Löwenbräu of the Wirth family (1747 DUNKEL) and that of Mann's Brau. Both beautifully drunk, rustic, with a soft entry and the toasted malts that emerged later with a nice intensity. Nice flat beers, but with a much more rounded body than the previous ones, as I expected. Between the two, perhaps I prefer Mann's, perhaps for the drier finish that left the cereal grist in the aftertaste.

    Sláinte !
    Cheers !
    ...Prost !

Looks peaceful, but just to my right two Canadian geese are going at it, in what appears to be a fight to the death. Guess they don’t realize they are a protected species around here and could be fined. Cheers!

Wow, enjoy the weather, Jeff! You're not that far west of us but we barely cracked 60° this afternoon. Lehigh Valley rocks today!

You find that locally or from an Advocate box? The only Tropis I’ve had were sent by @BrewsOverHoes

Cheers all! It's a beautiful spring Sunday in the Pacific Northwest. Now that the lawn is mowed, I'm enjoying this collab beer I picked up recently.
