Beer prices in Canada are generally a bit higher than the US. In British Columbia 6 packs generally cost around $12-13, but for imports like Deschutes or even Sierra Nevada, it's more like $15-18. Beer in general is taxed like crazy here, and I'm pretty sure imports are taxed even more.

Some of us can't, by law. But in places you can, I guess that'd be peevish.

I hate it when liquor stores don't have the prices marked on their six packs. I don't like being surprised by some ludicrous price when I get up to the register.

Same here. I know very little about wine and liquor but I leave that to the manager who is a wine geek. But when someone asks me about beer, I'm a lot more comfortable helping people out.

A beer that is in a freezer that should not be in a freezer.

Having expired beer on the shelf. This has happened on several occasions. I understand that if you have a large selection, that it may be hard to keep up with rotation, but seriously it should still be done. It's super annoying.

One moment comes to mind. One time, I told one of the employees that there was a Stone Smoked Porter that was expired by like a month or two. All he did was say "Wow, I guess you shouldn't drink it then." and that's it. I come back 2 days later and that same exact expired beer that was once out of refrigeration is now in the refrigerated section despite me telling them about it two days earlier. Ergh. I really hope that never happens again.

I appreciate that you realize it might be hard to keep up with rotation... Since expired beer seems to be the main complaint in this forum then I would suggest contacting your beer providers and say so.

As I previously stated there are 2500 types of beer in my store. Let's say that all the beers come in a case of 24 bottles. That's 60000 bottles of beer if I only ordered one case of each... Honestly, that's not a very accurate number since not all beers come in cases but I generally order more than one case (typically 12 bottles/case of 22's and 24 bottles/case of 12's) of each type of beer. There are four beer guys (me included) at my store with at most 2-3 of us working together only a few times a week. Are you starting to see how difficult it is to find and remove the expired beer off the shelf?

Not really an issue to drink a porter a month out of date.

    Enjoy

Wow, now that you put some numbers on it, I can see how difficult it can be to rotate and keep up with the expiration dates. And thanks for the website. I'll definitely check it out.
