Next is some Three Philosophers, a dependably delicious quad.

Good Wednesday Advocates! Thanks @ChicagoJ for the thread today. I'm crushing this can of Summit Triumphant. Might have a couple scoops of this today. Cheers!

Nice walk down to Dovetail. Passed the upcoming Hop Butcher, they will be opening on site, looks like a lot of work to go, perhaps waiting for restrictions to pass. @eppCOS

Ordered (Dovetail) Kolsch, grabbing some to go.

Good afternoon, advocates. Another sticky day. I'll pass. Too hot for my liking. Cooling off w/ a Triple Mosaic Daydream and afternoon baseball. Cheers!

New to me Dovetail, don’t always have the opportunity. Also my 100th new beer of the year.

    Dovetail Smoked Helles

    Brewery Notes: $9, 16.9 oz draft, 4.4% ABV, 20 IBU, 3-5 EBC, 5.1g / L CO2, served in a stein.

A smoked version of our Helles hopped with Hersbrucker; using the yeast from our Rauchdopplebock to add a subtle smoked flavor.

Appearance: Cloudy golden base, bright white head leaves nice cover over the base and spotty lacing, medium steady carbonation. 4.0

    Aroma:
Nice bready grassy aroma leads, lemon follows. Not getting the smoke, where is my smoke? 3.75

    Taste:
Consistent with the aroma, though the smoke has been found, subtle, present, adds a nice complement to their straight up Helles. Really liking how this all comes together, laid back, chill for those who wouldn’t like the fierce power of their Grodziskie. 4.25

    Mouthfeel:
Lightly dry, carbonation barely felt, refreshing, balanced, very nice. Light touch on the smoke, very easy drinking, easier than expected for an already low ABV. 4.0

    Overall:
While I like a strong powerful smoke flavor, I also like how balanced this low key smoke flavor adds to their Helles. Glad I stopped in today, swapping out one of my planned Kolsch for a four pack of this to go. Love you Dovetail. 4.25

Saw these guys thirty years after their heyday, free concert on Fremont Street in Downtown Vegas. They still had it.

18th Street Brewing Sex and Candy. I love it, but the fish don't. All I need is 17th Street BBQ and I would be on easy street.

Afternoon everyone! A warm sticky mid-80's south of Asheville today.
Enjoying a Belgian Style Dark Strong Ale from Munkle in Charleston, SC. Not bad, not great as i am getting some tobacco, chocolate, and dark fruits over a toasty malt base; not the best combo of flavors.
Caught some classic Zep earlier today.
    Cheers!

Lunch. It doesn’t always taste the same on draft. Seems more consistent in the bottle and no telling how fresh it is here in Texas.

This air feels really good right about now. I think a Sip of Sunshine will compliment it perfectly. Peace...

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup:

    1) St. Bernardus Wit (5.5%):
A Belgian Witbier with flavors of lime & lemon citrus, coriander, and juicyfruit. A complex yeast profile and a clean mouthfeel.
    versus
    2) St. Bernardus Watou Tokyo (6.0%): A Belgian Witbier from Tokyo with flavors of Belgian bread spices, some fruit, before a clove and meat yeast flavor and soft bready finish.

    3) Half Acre Tome (5.5%): A hazy pale ale from Chicago with flavors of lemon citrus, pineapple, and pine. A light and clean finish.
    versus
    4) Toppling Goliath’s Pseudo Sue (5.8%): A hazy Citra pale ale from Iowa with strong flavors of lemon citrus flower, with some mint and evergreen notes.
    (Both pairs correctly matched blind)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    1) St. Bernardus Wit:
The Gold-standard for a Belgian Wit in my books. This one has a distinct lime citrus and floral Belgian spices. A lighter and cleaner finish. Interesting to compare these two. Tokyo was more bready, but had almost a "meaty" medicinal note which I wasn't used to. Slightly more along a Belgian Pale Ale. The Original Wit is hard to beat.

    4) Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue: Nearly impossible to beat Pseudo Sue, but the flavors here were surprisingly similar. Pseudo Sue was a more robust version. Tome nails all the marks, and goes down as smooth as an IPL. The win for Pseudo Sue.
